    Astounded OBD Codes

Plus didn't they initially refuse? Either way I'm glad you had a result .. shame about the stress levels though.

8" Brake Hub Identity 4" PCD 4 Stud

I know this doesn't answer your question but isn't that a strange trailer braking set-up? Trailers are usually unbraked to 750kg mass & braked over that weight .. but I thought the regs. demanded that all wheels were braked. nb. some of the new tandem axle 750kg units on sale have a scarily...

Solution to top up battery with no electricity in my garage

Leisure battery + inverter is not only over-kill for your purpose but also pricier than a maintenance free solar panel. Besides, with no lecky in the garage you would be back to square one .. how would you charge the leisure batt

Probably a daft question: bicycle sized dust caps on car wheels?

99% sure there was no kerb contact & the car has been through two MOT's since the incident w/o even advisories, so if there is tyre damage it hasn't been picked up by the tester. I don't have any concerns, but thanks to all for the advice/theories.

Probably a daft question: bicycle sized dust caps on car wheels?

Mind you, tyres can be fickle blighters. I check pressures regularly but a couple of years ago a front tyre on my old 5 series was looking soft & when I checked it was down to less than one bar, which is barely half the correct reading. Thinking it was at least worth airing it up before dragging...

    Road tax

If it comes to that, neither have I  Mind you I am 79, but that's probably no excuse.

Probably a daft question: bicycle sized dust caps on car wheels?

Commercial dust caps are good as they contain an O ring which makes for a secondary seal, only downside is that they are usually yellow. Have you tried the old trick of applying spittle to the valve to show up any leakage?

Ford squaring up to UK and EU

Might be an idea to advertise them, cars that used them are fast becoming extinct.

Ford squaring up to UK and EU

I had Sheerlines (3) & they had damn great Lucas P100 lamps with a solenoid to dip the reflector on the passenger side when the dip switch was pressed, that action also extinguished the driver's side lamp. Interesting how such a set-up fares on today's roads, but then they were exempt from the...

Ford squaring up to UK and EU

Doesn't take much doing .. £1200 (inc. labour) on my BM last year. New front struts/coils/top mounts plus discs/pads all round, all new park-brake components & some brake line sections. Feel it's worth it though.

Ford squaring up to UK and EU

I had the same model/colour back in the 'Seventies, it's from a later year with the larger 2.6L engine. Fond memories: engine so quiet I've been guilty of cranking it when it's actually still been running. 30 mpg possible if you kept below 60 on a long run .. very...

Ford squaring up to UK and EU

Almost certainly, after all beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Because vehicle manufacturers have shareholders to satisfy & an extensive workforce to pay (they) design cars that the marketing dept. perceive will appeal to potential buyers. Fortunately for the manufs. those same buyers are...

    That is incredibly ugly

I imagine they did, the model 980/981 tank transporter had a 4 (or was it 5?) speed 'box, but 3 gear ranges. I think the last ones were cast (sold out of service) in the mid 'seventies As for the air-drop Jeeps I think they lost a few there, but then Ford & Willys between them made over half a...

    That is incredibly ugly

Indeed, I drool over the prospect of a 968 cargo but for me the purchase price of a good one today is un-attainable & I'm not into restorations. Mine were a Dodge ambulance & a Chev. truck, totally reliable if you looked after them.

    That is incredibly ugly

I used to have two of those, for the occasional weekend. Built for the American military in the early 'forties, weighing between 3 & 4 tons consuming 'proper' petrol at the rate of between 8 & 12 mpg.

    That is incredibly ugly

Nothing like the rumble of a V8 or the growl of a straight six ! I can still enjoy both & the cars themselves are instantly recognisable, except maybe to younger generations ;)

    That is incredibly ugly

In my eyes most modern cars look ugly, but then my eyes are from a different era
