Air trapped in unvented cylinder coil with X-Plan

My mistake, further investigations reveal that on the Greenstar there is no manual procedure on the diverted valve and the boiler relies on an automatic air purge mode.

Air trapped in unvented cylinder coil with X-Plan

According to online sources the diverter valve can be placed in "manual" mode which would allow the trapped air to be released. Edited…….

Using Wiser Smart Heating - seems limited

That’s not heating though. You asked about controlling heating for dawn/dusk.

    Replacing central heating control

Wiser allows more than 9 thermostats, you can have up to 16 heating zones/rooms with maximum of 5 devices in a zone but a maximum of 64 devices in total.

Using Wiser Smart Heating - seems limited

It’s an unusual thing to want to control heating based on dawn and/or dusk so you will have to lash up a way to do it using something like Home Assistant and a 3rd party sensor. The HA integration for Wiser is excellent and gives a huge amount of information and control which the Wiser app can...

Radiators upstairs are on downstairs aren't

From your first paragraph it looks like you agree with me. If you use the “smart” TRV’s manually then why not just use mechanical TRV’s and save on batteries.

Radiators upstairs are on downstairs aren't

I wouldn’t go as far as a half turn, I did mine on an 1/8th turn first and then turned each lockshield another 1/8th turn until all rads got hot.

Radiators upstairs are on downstairs aren't

I think people buy mechanical TRV's because they don't need an app, dont need batteries, rarely go wrong and are generally cheaper for a good quality TRV rather than pay cheap for a poor quality electronic TRV. I dont see the point of a "smart" TRV that cant control the heat source, you may as...

    bit of advice needed.

As a landlord then surely your boss is not legally allowed to deduct anything directly from your salary unless it pertains to your employment. You are right to gather all the information and evidence regarding the poor maintenance which is the landlords responsibility, I would also give him a...

Heat Loss - Pen & Paper Check

5.5kW for one room is crazy, my whole 4 bed house is only a bit more than that! You could go with the DT40 radiators and run a suitable flow temp as required. Then fix the building insulation issues, especially the loft insulation as it’s a quick and cheap fix, then gradually lower the flow temp.

    35kW combi, 15mm CH pipes, 22kW rads - problem?

What is the heat loss of your property? I can't believe it is 22kW more likely to be around 8-10kW. A combi boiler in a 5 bedroom house with 4 bathrooms is less than ideal. As @gas112 has said swapping 15mm copper for 15mm hep is going to add some restriction to the flow.

Add simple smart switch to external power socket

Shelly have a number of sensors that can be used with their switches. Off the top of my head they have motion, temperature, humidity, door/window and light sensors that can all be integrated with Alexa.
