What conduit to protect last metre of cable to garden spike lights?

It can help a little bit, but generally nothing but armour plate will stop the squirrels. Keep the run from the junction as short as possible and clip to a fence, if you can. They seem to nibble more at loose cable. You can get a smaller diameter copex, which looks a bit neater. Might be worth...

Views on plastered in GU10 light sockets or LED profiles

The type I linked to you can remove the whole fitting. Get the driver out, and any junction box ( Correctly sized for the hole.) These do not have a lamp like a GU10 which can be replaced, but are a self enclosed LED . If it fails you need to replace the unit. Some have built in drivers, some...

Views on plastered in GU10 light sockets or LED profiles

The type Iv'e installed, you plaster in a bezel (Trimless kit). The light sits in the bezel and can be removed, with out damage to the ceiling. Ive installed lots of this brand http://www.allledgroup.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=312

    Mains power cable on surface

OK. In my experience, you have as much chance of metering terminating cores from SWA into a meter, as they would terminate into a bean tin, even if it is Heinz. :) Thinking about it though, a Corned beef tin would sit flatter on the board.;)

how to measure existing shower cable?

Indeed, but the safe isolation procedure does involves proving the device is working, either on a known source , or a proving unit, before, and after testing for isolation. Switching off something, may indicate you have the right circuit, but it could also be coincidentally that the item in...

    Mains power cable on surface

I must be missing something here :?: The DNO can do what they want, but we can't. We can't take SWA straight into the meter, and no Meter guy would install it. What is the issue with terminating the SWA properly and running tails from what ever enclosure is used isolator, switch fuse, old baked...

how to measure existing shower cable?

I think its potentially dangerous. I would want to be 100% sure I had safe isolation before using a metal caliper on an electrical cable. A multi meter is not an 'Approved' voltage indicator It is difficult to know if a multi meter is working, or it could be on the wrong setting. Get an off...

    Mains power cable on surface

As far as I can see if the OP wants rid of the surface tails he will need an electrician, and SWA is the simplest option. Half a day, all done :)

Failed EICR-is is justifiable to change RCD box(fuse box)

Unfortunately I don't think your installation has had an EICR. Just a passing glance. Did he have access to the Electrical installation certificate for the board. Wondering where he got the numbers from. If he didn't then it is a pure work of fiction. The schedule of inspections shows...

Smart meter installer disconnected my shower

Smart meter installer disconnected my shower

The second meter guy could have installed an isolator and henley block, so your electrician could run tails to the shower CU from the henley. The henley block would split the feed to both CU's Get on to the meter people and tell then to get round sharpish and fit an isolator. I presume meter...

30a connector block, how can I tell

Not an ideal situation, having to bury a join, but it happens all the time, sometimes you can over stress it. Since you can make that hole as big as you need, I would of used one of these 32 A Ashley MF junction boxes. Box secures to the wall and good clamps on cable. Used these under floors...
