    Armoured Cable For Outdoor Socket?

Also, have you worked with armoured cable before? It may not be a straight forward fit at the supply end depending on what you're connecting it to.

    The gap between two sockets.

Sometimes you can space the boxes so the face plates butt up to each other, but it's a PITA if you get the too close together. If leaving a larger gap then the plasterer would normally fill the gap between the metal back boxes.

    PIR Motion Sensor Wiring

If by your description you mean the cables at the switch and the light have only 2 cores & an earth then there should be a junction box somewhere with 3 cables and 4 terminals. In the sensor the first L&N are from the permanent supply. The 2nd L goes to the light, although the Neutrals can be...

    Electrician couldn't understand this wiring

A good write up. Firstly, sorry for your loss. I don't know too much about pacemakers, but you were right to avoid the likelihood of a shock. In fact if the electrician received a shock or if it was the story about the builder, then that might have put him off if he was expecting a can of worms...

Help and advice on Garden/shed power.

Taylor beat me to it :D I was going to ask:- Is the ring RCD protected? What sort of load do you anticipate pulling from the shed socket(s)? How long will the run be?

    Electrician couldn't understand this wiring

That's a fair point. There are 4 cables going to the switch after all

Current in earth wire to light switch?!

That's a good attitude. A lot of it is a specialist job for good reason. The main thing you can do is check, within reason, what is safe. Yes. Even if you go round with an extension wire on a multimeter set to measure the resistance between earths then you will know that both are connected...

    Electrician couldn't understand this wiring

There's nothing wrong with your switch wiring. I suspect your spark just didn't want the job. If it was an actual builder who fitted the lights then he needs his eyes testing, although it's not the end of the world and is easily rectified. Ask yourself if you want the 3rd light to run off a...

Max height for electrical fuse box above floor?

The company who run the distribution for your area. They own everything up to the main fuse.

Current in earth wire to light switch?!

If you have a multimeter then you could measure the resistance between the earth on the light switch to the socket screw of a mains socket nearby. It won't need to be accurate, but will confirm continuity that both sides have an earth.

No. 3 made me laugh :D

Double socket sparking when I click one switch to 'off'

Could just be a bit of back EMF as the load has a bunch of energy to dissipate, which it tries to do down the switch as it opens. I'm surprised it does it with the radio on though as that's a very low load. It won't do it with the appliance off though as there's no load.

    Main water bonding question

I agree. My reply was in respect to supplementary bonding a metal pipe running to something like sink, pre 18th Ed.

    Main water bonding question

I would say that because the RCD should pick this up and trip. If it's a pre RCD install though then yes you'd bond it. It stops external voltages from being brought in to the house.

Dimmer switch works to turn on/off but no dimming

Yep that's fine. He can't do an MWC as he wasn't the installer, but he can do a condition report. Yes. If it's not structural then just chop a section out. Best tool to use is a reciprocating multi-tool if you have one. I had a quick scan through the instructions and it shows both ways...

Wiring Nest Protect to lighting circuit

The labelling is spot on. Wire up to your L, N & E. You can do a Screwfix click & collect for what you need. Make sure you get enough Wagos for the box and with the right number of ways. Get yourself a pack of 1.5mm cable clips too they're not expensive.

Dimmer switch works to turn on/off but no dimming

Your wiring order seems fine other than the Live feeds should be linked through the Commons and your switched lives out of L1. Swap dimmer 2 & 3 over to check the dimming for the 3 light run, that way you can replace the faulty dimmer at your leisure. Aside from what has been picked up, get...

No power coming through but RCD didn't tripped

Well picked up. Dare we ask for the OP to flick the main switch off and open up the board for a photo to confirm suspicions, or is that frowned on?

    Garage RCD

Thanks guys. Just spent the last 20 mins drawing this out and frying my brain trying to understand how 30mA missing from the Neutral would be affected as the r1+r2 changes. I think I got it when I realised that the second drawing (B) didn't take account of the total impedance to the load being...

    Garage RCD

Thanks. I think there's some mileage in working this out to clarify why as I have it in my head that circuit impedance after the RCD would affect the current flow to earth. I'll draw a diagram to try and work this out.
