Is it *Safe* to drink hot water from a combi boiler?

Another consideration if you have changed to a combi is the manky old pipework that you didn't change when you converted it over from a tank fed system. Mine is 40 years old and the 1 inch layer of **** that was in the bottom of that tank went through those pipes too. Probably won't kill you...

Any engineers around Aberdeen who knows Potterton Puma 100e?

Tony....thanks for those ramblings...most informative. Ktnabd, you have mail. The puma is daft because it uses a flow switch off a diaphragm for DHW demand and then requires the wax capsule to be working for the DHW to actually be delivered to the taps and not the rads....crazy...

Any engineers around Aberdeen who knows Potterton Puma 100e?

Also reading back on your second post the Puma is a weird boiler in a few ways and the hot water arrangement is particularly poor. Having to mess about with taps to get the shower going could also point to a dodgy wax capsule.

Scale or sludge will give the same results and it doesn't matter what you call it. I am In Aberdeen and know the boiler well, could maybe even make a guess where you live if it's in a block of flats full of them. :D

Best way to buy Irish car number plates

Dateless costs big money for what they are. If the OP just wants a cheap plate that isn't related to his car I would go suffix as it won't look like you live in the town shytehole...regardless if you do or don't. Either that or buy mine for £400 :D

    BMW 3 series

Pointless until we know what year/model it is. Anything after the E36 is junk to me. Astra99 is right with the engines but even the M52/M54 has it's issues, its not bulletproof by any means....good but not perfect.

Powermax 155x – Pump replacement - drain blocked URGENT

Can't remember what it looks like inside as I generally avoid them but if it's blocked there will be some way round it. The problem you have is manufacturers agents often won't do anything out of the ordinary to fix things either because they aren't allowed to or just can't because they are...

The dreaded DPF on diesel cars from 2008 and have they improved?

Sadly hardly anyone sells V8's anymore....I might even buy a Focus if there was a V8 version. All diesels are essentially **** just like all modern boilers are ****.....just in varying degrees. My work van does loads of small journeys in a day...luckily Ford will have to deal with the...

    Your First Car?

Steering wheel wasn't square.....it was quartic :D Think they were trying to be clever but no one really got it. My first car was a MK1 1.1 Golf L in sky blue which my mate said was Hermann Blau cos it reminded him of Hermann Goering's powder blue pimp luftwaffe uniform. Loved that car but by...

    Storage heaters issues/replacement

Thanks folks. After a bit of digging I think he is being a fanny and turning it off and on thinking it just heats up whenever he demands. Have told him to leave it on and not turn off for a few weeks and see how it goes. I knew about the output control and the one on the lounge heater is faulty...

    Surprising news about Diesels

Most vehicles after 2009 are good for it. Most of mine aren't even within a decade of that. Even with the promise 2009 on is OK I'm not convinced...there are too many horror stories and it doesn't solve the hygroscopic issue anyway. Also the more ethanol is used the more rainforest/land is used...
