    Are LEDs a big con?

The heat from the incandescent bulb comes from the filament and bathes the room in heat as well as light The point made is with LEDs the heat is generated further back inside the housing behind the LEDs so is going to be distributed into the ceiling or whatever. A reasonable point though I've...

    Concrete base for summer house

I'd listen to @pach1962 he's actually done this not just watched others ike me :)

External waterproofing for a summer house

I've not heard that T&G is an issue... we recently built a 'house' this way but they were 70mm logs. OTOH our property has 2 (! from previous owner) 'sheds' similar to what you describe without issue. Have you considered painting the thing rather than varnishing? That's what our pre-existing...

    Concrete base for summer house

I've seen a lot of people do it as a DIY project. Depends on your skills but wood is quite forgiving

External waterproofing for a summer house

My understanding was sadolin does have done flex to it, we did look into more 'membrane' type products but they were terrifyingly expensive... Sadolin is about £12/L and is at the lower end of the high performance products, we investigated osmo as well but the really hi tech wonder-treatments...

    Door too low for decking

I'd consider cutting out a bit by the door and adding a step. That said your door opens inwards so you could just have the deck higher and step up as you come out, I suppose.

External waterproofing for a summer house

We were advised to only use expensive products i.e. not Cuprinol. We haven't done the outside yet but have gone with Sadolin Classic

    Concrete base for summer house

Personally a concrete base might be overkill. Lots of people float them a bit like you would decking only a bit beefier. 3x3 isn't very big, I've seen people simply rest fence posts on concrete slabs or concrete these posts in and build on top. Have you got a link to the cabin?

    Are LEDs a big con?

THe colour of sodium is far uglier but as you say the modern ones appear to suffer brightness wise. Although that varies, I've seen some that are great and some that are awful.

    Are LEDs a big con?

I wouldn't be surprised if given the current climate on... err, climate... modern lights are simply made darker than they used to be under newer regulations to reduce power use still further? Of course the old sodium lamps are actually pretty good, which is why they were used - except they are...

    Leaky outside tap

My main metal outside tap has developed a leak, or maybe more than one. Water comes out through the top where the bit you turn comes out of the main body. Seems to be gradually getting worse... we use it quite a bit and it worries me how much is wasted especially if you forget and leave it on...

    Are LEDs a big con?

Yeah we have had bulks start to flicker and fade. Fading is far preferable... a flickering light you have to take it out or you go mad!

    Are LEDs a big con?

Maybe they relaxed it... When they initially brought in the changes it seemed most things were omitted. I'll have to check again.

    Are LEDs a big con?

Only for "essentials". Not sure if lights are included?

    Are LEDs a big con?

The only other time I had buzzing or whining was with the mini spots but I think that was fixed by replacing the low voltage transformer for a modern one, which IS a classic LED issue. Maybe these WERE fakes; Amazon deal of the day. My older LEDs came with 5 year warranty but the seller went...

    Are LEDs a big con?

Nope. And the last lot in this fitting were silent... Till they bust. I'd be tempted to spend more on a top brand but I'm nervous they'll do no better unless I can find a cast iron warranty.

    Are LEDs a big con?

A few kitchen GU10 spots. Most of the house are normal/traditional bulb shape and size, not even sure what that's called but like for like from the days of 100w... That plus a mix of candle ones the same height 5" ish. No giant or tiny globe ones, if I've understood the question

    Are LEDs a big con?

that and environmental benefits they say... Not either you have to replace them all the time!

    Are LEDs a big con?

We switched out all our old filament/halogen bulbs for LEDs 2 years ago. They're supposed to last longer but we do not have a single room where at least one hasn't failed. In our hall, 2 out of 5 have failed. In our living room, an entire set of 5 failed within a few weeks of each other at about...

    Airgun advice?

Yeah this is to be expected in states which allow guns. TBH if I was in such an area I would probably own one though I would make sure to be fully trained. If nothing else it's a fun thing to kill(!) some time if you're stuck home with a range :)
