Converting old heating control to socket

So you could fit a 10A fuse in the fcu and run almost anything on a single socket. Don’t think there are many things that use the full 13A these days.

Converting old heating control to socket

Some where there should be an fcu with 3a fuse to turn it off. The live is the red wire on the left. The hole spacing is designed to fit a single socket. Depends what you want to plug in really or just make it tidy?

    Cabling for motorised valves

"I've extended the CH pipes to where a cylinder would go" Obviously think about summer time (for example). You need boiler hot water to the cylinder when the heating is off. The return can be combined with the CH return. These days you also need a bypass valve, for when all the motorized...

wiring up a lighting photocell without a neutral wire?

They don’t need neutral, but you must use an incandescent lamp. Sadly no battery to charge. The second the bulb fails or the power goes off, they loose their memory

    Kitchen lighting ideas?

Yeah I am liking the panel lights from Www.lights.co.uk 16% off at present. Common to have 13% off offers Got 4 of them now. Over 3 rooms. First 2 purchased in 2021 When replacing 6ft tubes I did have to make the plaster look tidy on the ends. Light output is great. Can’t believe the spread...

    Aico alarm wiring instructions

I wouldn’t expect grey. That cable (well mine anyway) was around long before 2004 Annoyingly mine has twin blacks I suspect yours is from the 80’s. And mine from the 90s. They used white black for zone valves in the 80s. ACL. Whwre now they use orange grey

That cable also used in central heating systems. And also useful for outdoor pir lights (in conduit) Some sparks use red t&e for alarm supply

    New thermostat wires

you must have drilled though something. or made other changes while you were doing the stat ? Maybe you have drilled thru the upstairs socket circuit, and the boiler is feed off that circuit too. Either way, you need to get that stat off the wall and see what has happened. Also take a close...
