    Rough handling with gearstick

She slammed it into reverse while moving? This is the sort of thing you can worry about forever or put to the back of your mind. There's probably a magnet in the gearbox to catch any metal particles.

Golf 2013 Mk 7 rear washer blocked

My washers packed up and the pump still ran. The inlet to the pump was blocked with blue jelly type substance. I assume the additive in the water had congealed

    Insurance auto-renewal

Are you willing to name the insurance co? You could tell them on their Facebook page, they won't like that. I did that to an insurer who specialises in the mature driver when their quote was the dearest and they gave me full comp for about £150 for the year!

Drilled through to neighbour's garage side

I think you would be liable. Why not offer to paint the wall after you've filled the holes and she'll think she's had a result.

    Door Sill Protectors

There are clear plastic film type protectors that you apply to the bumper with soapy water and squeegee it out. That could be what the OP is referring to. They protect the paint but my lab's rough feet scuff the film and it looks a bit tatty. I'm looking at getting a black ABS one. You...

    Car finance

I'm going to need to think long and hard about going back to petrol when I next change my car.

    Uneconomic Repair

If she's expecting to use the hire car while she argues the pre-accident value and then during a long hunt for a replacement, don't be surprised if the third party insurers refuse to pay more than about 4 weeks from the date of the accident. They'll be arguing reasonableness of her conduct.

    Uneconomic Repair

Why? It's up to her to prove the car is fit for comprehensive cover. Otherwise they'll continue third party only for a cost only slightly less than comprehensive. I suppose you could try claiming the cost of the inspection/MOT against the third party as an uninsured loss. I think you're making...

    Car finance

You've gone for a petrol engine I see.

Drilled through to neighbour's garage side

Just pretend it was an innocent accident. What can they do? They'll probably be more reasonable than she is.

    VW Caddy vans

I blame soft liners. Pressure wash under your wheelarches and your car will last a lot longer

    Uneconomic Repair

You're lucky the insurers only want an MOT to show it's worth granting comprehensive cover. They could justifiably ask for an automobile assessors report which would cost twice (+) as much. Re buying the replacement , if it's comparable and only worth £500, offer £500 and walk away if not...

    RAC, AA or Green Flag

Not called out the breakdown services for 22 years. I went with AXA as the cover seemed good ,the price reasonable and I don't expect I'll be using it.
