Poor Geek. He desparately needs reassurance. I wouldn't attempt a DIY puncture repair or have a car without a spare wheel. My current car only has a spacesaver and I'm not 100% happy about that.
I've never had any problems with alloys in 20 years. I wouldn't want steels with tacky plastic wheel covers. I might not want diamond cut alloys as they are a bit more easily damaged and harder to repair.
Irrespective of any warranty purchased with the car, you still have your statutory rights under consumer legislation so I'd be looking to the dealer to repair the car. Or take the car back and give you a refund.
I thought it was because the alternator read the battery voltage and only charged it back up to that plus a bit more. Probably only on new alternators, not the old Lucas 18ACR/A127.
Been looking on You Tube at Mondeos ( same system) On them you can press the accelerator, operate the handbrake switch and turn the ignition key and the system goes into maintenance mode. I think I'll use the 12v supply to the actuator trick to do it when the time comes.
