Arbitrage between bookmakers and betting exchanges. It takes some time to find the arbitrage opportunities, but they do arise. As I said, I don't know anything about football teams. Yes, MN was right on gold, although I don't really trust him with his fake window background that he places in...

The funny thing is, I do actually make money gambling on sports. Bookies are always closing my accounts down. That's what draws me to this. My sports betting is just arbitraging, not based on any knowledge of the sports in question. But with the financial markets I don't have arbitrage...

If you've got £10,000 to put into an ISA, it won't be in six figures in a few years. I didn't watch my funds go down. I didn't watch them at all. I had a lot of other things to do.

My cable short over the weekend didn't do very well, although nvidia looks better. I still think people are a bit overexcited about the rate decision, so I've sold gold, and bought Rentokil (a lot of its revenue is from the USA and it has room for a bounce). Might close all three out before the...

Yeah, right. I had 4 figs in a pension in Fidelity Index World P and L&G Global Emerging Mkts Idx C Acc from 13th June to 6th September this year. Each down about 1.5% over that time. Only worth doing because I got the tax rebate on it.

You keep saying "See how you could have done with your money invested in some leveraged nvidia product." But it's not really a very helpful observation is it? Why not put up a chart showing your % return on nvidia the week before the chart you show? It would look terrible. The rates on the HL...

Well, the dollar basket has weakened quite a bit since the EU rate decision, like I thought. I think people are getting a bit overexcited now, with the idea of a 50bp cut, so maybe it will strengthen again from now. My savings are in a Chase saver at 4.85%. Is that a savings platform...

That makes me want to buy B of A, it was even in the Daily Mail, so the move must have happened by now. But that conflicts with my overall thinking on banks and low interest rates, so I'll pass on it for now. Ideas of rate cuts have gone off the boil a bit with yesterday's inflation figures...

No, they are broadly down since Jackson Hole when Powell raised the issue of rate cuts. The money goes into bonds when there are rate cuts. And into most stocks, but not bank stocks...

Financial service companies could mean a lot of things. But a google search brings up the big banks. And banks are usually considered to make lower profits when rates are low. So not sure why you said this?

Decided to buy nvidia as it seems to be in an upward trend this week, and the lower interest rate climate should help it.

Both Cathay and the EU investigating it. Analysts' views very positive so maybe everyone who would be in it already is. Making lower highs repeatedly last week. So I've sold it.

I think tech will rally since, as you say p/e is not impossibly high, and it seems as if US rates are going to fall. But also, AI feels a bit like the dotcom bubble. Lots of companies seem to be buying these chips to get in on AI, but why? Because there are now services like ChatGPT which you...

Buying nvidia today. Everyone who might have been shaken out now has time to have been, plus it looks to have found a bottom. Also Home Depot which has quite a modest p/e. Modest job openings so perhaps rate cuts can come into the fore again.

Consensus exists because, if you're an analyst and you say something different from everyone else and you're wrong, you're out of a job. If you say the same as everyone else, and you're wrong, not a problem. Analysts exist and they're not going to go away, however wrong they are. So just say...

It clearly is IG, but they don't respond when I ask about it, so I need to find someone else. I don't want to have to spend my time complaining every time they do this. Well done on Rolls Royce. Are your charts some stock index?

The trade I posted was a rollover of trade I took out on 26th: 27/08/2024 Treasury Bond Decimalised Sep-24 -£239.82 DIAAAAQPG4WKWAY 12453.6 12413.63 6 2024-08-27T19:04:08 2024-08-26T19:52:25 Treasuries weren't trending down at that point. Yes, I do get the feeling that stops do not work...

Buying Shekel vs dollar this week - trend is up and reluctance to sell arms to Israel means less to spend shekels on. Selling nvidia and gold as they seem to be coming off tops and I want to participate. No stops cos IG will just trigger them when they feel like regardless of what the price is.

My trades last week would have been good if it were not for the stop losses. Citibank got stopped out, as I mentioned, at a price that it never went to. Same with my US Treasuries trade: 02/09/2024 Treasury Bond Decimalised Dec-24 -£1,164.15 12436.38 12242.35 6 2024-09-02T07:30:30...
