How do you handle wise guys?

Completely agree, but when they get the invoice and it goes quiet, then only suggest it's not working when he rings them? Anyone normal would be back on to the installer and say so in the first instance.

How do you handle wise guys?

Frost stat kicking in? Seriously? I know it's colder further oop norf than I am, but it's far from frost stat weather, or it's set up wrong. If you think they are taking the ****, send a reminder, then a final demand. Then issue court papers. Don't mess about. Easy to do with MCOL. Shouldn't...

Some Muppet (moi)got a couple of wires wrong in the bell box. I've started needing reading glasses. Climbed up the scaffolding without them. Thought I could see what I was doing. Obviously not! All good and working fine. Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated.

Boiler Saga Continues - Probable Leak...(Update 24/12/20 - Trace and Access visit)

you need to dose according to water volume, 1 tin in a 200l system probably wont work.

Boiler Saga Continues - Probable Leak...(Update 24/12/20 - Trace and Access visit)

I'd weigh up the cost if the specialists against 10 tins of miracle seal. I've used this twice in desperation. Both big houses, owners refused to have flooring and boards up. 10 tins in each system. No further problems. Proper fix is to find it and cure it.

Boiler Saga Continues - Probable Leak...(Update 24/12/20 - Trace and Access visit)

Yup, along with the brown stains around the speedfit fittings. Looks like multiple tiny leaks, Evaporating away when the heating is on. Could be why the sub floor looks dry.

Boiler Saga Continues - Probable Leak...(Update 24/12/20 - Trace and Access visit)

Drain dye i have used is luminous green. Powder is red, changes when wet. I once lit up a whole hospital basement that was flooded when I dropped a tub full. It turned a local lido green, police and fire engines turned up. They thought it was a chemical leak.

De pressurize the boiler. Whip the bleed vent out of the top. Pour a big scoop of drain tracing dye in. Bleed vent back in and top it up and bleed. Run boiler look for coloured water inside and outside the boiler and under the floor. Doesn't matter what colour drain dye used.

    Phantom Service Engineer

i advise my customers to cancel their DD, pay the amount into a savings account. pay me £75 for a service +parts each year, and leave the DD running. as the amount builds they have a reserve for repairs etc. a new boiler usually has a manuf. guarantee so the amount builds up quickly. they are...

    Worcester boiler no light/power

there should be a way to isolate the boiler in the garage tbh. if an engineer was working on it someone in the house could turn it on again and give him a shock. does sound like both blokes have messed up though. part slingers by the sounds of it.

    Phantom Service Engineer

i would have charged you for diagnosing the fault, the cost of the part +20% plus a charge for fitting it. £227all in. he's cheap. maybe the magic parts fairy was on strike and he couldnt get the part to your place without picking it up himself and getting it back to you? you must think his...
