    Unvented cylinder reduced flow

Thanks everyone. Had someone out who cleared the strainer in the controls. All sorted now. Burt

    Unvented cylinder reduced flow

Thanks ScottishGasMan. If blocked safety controls are a possibility is it worth considering removing the controls and trying to clear them out by flushing water through the opposite way or is this impractical / unsafe as a DIYer?

    Unvented cylinder reduced flow

Yes the mains pressure in the kitchen is fine at all times including when the flow is reduced from the cylinder when showering or running the bath. I guess this confirms the idea that there's a flow restriction somewhere before the cylinder ie the safety controls?

    Unvented cylinder reduced flow

Thanks for all the replies. To answer scottishgasman's question, the cold also runs at reduced flow once the bath has run for a while. Does that indicate which bit could be at fault? Looks like I'll need to get a G3 engineer out but it's always useful to be in the know in advance ☺ Cheers Burt

    Unvented cylinder reduced flow

The cylinder was fitted 2 years ago and has not been serviced. I wasn't aware that these are supposed to be serviced. The guy who fitted it did not mention servicing and I had one in the last house that went 7 years without a service! I have the boiler serviced each year. I'll look in to...

    Unvented cylinder reduced flow

Hi guys, I have an unvented cylinder that I had fitted to my 1980's build house a couple of years ago. The incoming mains to the cylinder was also upgraded to 22mm at the same time. All has been fine but the last couple of days when filling the bath, the flow rate and/or pressure (I know...

    Air in heating system

Thanks for the idea. Looks exciting! None of the rads need bleeding at the moment so I'll see if any gas builds up and give this a try.

    Air in heating system

I'm pretty sure it was but I'll check. It's been like this since it was refilled. Could the Hydrogen build up that quickly?

    Air in heating system

Hi Mick, Thanks for the reply. Boiler is a British Gas 330. It was here when we bought the house. No idea when it was fitted but there is a sticker on the side that says it was serviced in 2010 so at least that old. The system does hold pressure. The plumber told me to top it up if...

    Air in heating system

Hi all, Hoping to get some advice... My house is a 1980s build with the dreaded microbore. I've recently had an extension done and a fair bit of work done inside. Where the heating system has been extended, 15mm has been used, but some of the original microbore still exists. All of...

    Cold supply to unvented cylinder

Cheers dcawkwell Do you reckon just upgrade the cold supply to the tank or is there anything else I should do while I'm at it?

    Cold supply to unvented cylinder

Hi ALC, Thanks for your reply. Under the kitchen sink there is a plastic pipe on the supply side of the main stop cock - I assume this is the incoming main? This pipe is 22mm as far as I can tell. It is immediately reduced to 15mm on the 'house' side of the stop cock and this 15mm pipe...

    Cold supply to unvented cylinder

Hi guys, I've moved into a house which has recently had an unvented cylinder installed. The house is a mid-80s build. The original setup seems to be that the cold supply to the storage tank in the loft is 15mm. There were then 2 outlets 22mm from the tank - 1 fed all of the cold taps and...

    Electric Cooker Wiring

Hi guys, I need to replace the free standing electric cooker in my property. The new cooker will be of a similar power output as the existing cooker so it will be a like for like replacement. Am I permitted by the regs to remove the old cooker and connect the new cooker to the mains? I...

    Whooshing Central Heating

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me. I have recently moved into a house which was built in the early 80s. The central heating is pretty much original as far as I can tell - original looking rads and microbore pipes feeding them as well as feed and expansion tank for the central heating in...

    WRAS approved fittings

Hi I'm planning replacing some units in by bathroom which will involve rerouting a bit of pipe and some new taps. I'm a bit confused by the WRAS approval that I see marked on some products. Do all parts that I intend to use need to be WRAS approved? There are a lot of taps in...
