Polishing bare metal cast iron fireplace

Has it? I'd expect it to be shiny metal if its been blasted. That looks like its still got black polish or paint on it.

Polishing bare metal cast iron fireplace

You have zero chance of polishing that up. Too big and too much detail to do even with experience of polishing and the correct tools without losing the detail. Best option would be to get it sandblasted and lacquered,

    New workers rights?

Businesses will create workarounds by putting people on fixed term or temporary contracts with regular review periods. Loads more cost and admin for the business, with much more stress and less job security for the employee. I understand the importance of job security to people, but personally i...

    Powder coating radiator

Why have you got your heart set on powder coat? If the radiator you want is already painted, you’re better off wet spraying it. Edit: looking at the panel radiator shown in your photo, you won't get a decent finish from powder coat.

    Powder coating radiator

The radiator you want powder coated would have had to have been powder coated originally if you want to powder coat over the top, or you need to strip it to bare metal before powder coating. You can’t powder coat over an oem wet paint finish.

Confused over compression and push fit.

Sorry, it hadn't sunk in that the OP was talking about plastic pipes.

Confused over compression and push fit.

Edit: Didn't notice that the OP was talking about plastic pipes and not copper so ignore my comment. Personally, i'd rather rely on an olive rather than a rubber o ring as a long term seal.

Insulating under a suspended timber floor

Our heating bills didn’t reduce in any noticeable way. The suspended floor needed replacing due to rot, but insulating it was a waste of money in my opinion.

Insulating under a suspended timber floor

Concentrate on the ceilings and walls. If you have carpet and underlay, you’ll notice no significant benefit from insulating the floor. I speak from experience.

Labour increase building targets by 43% in Tory councils areas while Labour council areas increase by only 7%...

.....and half of the cabinet members have seen their housing targets reduce. Apparently Angela Raynor has scrapped the urban uplift target where existing cities received a higher proportion of the housing target. Funny how labour areas seem to have benefitted so much though....

Compression fittings for air line to copper ok?

Compression is used on compressed air all the time. Looks massively over complicated though.

    Wrong silicone used?

    I stand corrected (y)

    Wrong silicone used?

Solvent based silicones have a different curing mechanism and the solvent can evaporate much more easily.

    Wrong silicone used?

The no nonsense stuff is solvent free so dries rather than cures. If you’re fixing two non porous surfaces together, it’ll take a very long time to dry.

    Lawyer jumps ship

The sad part about this whole incident, is that the police were undoubtedly confronted with a very violent situation, and that violence was directed towards them. However, it looks to me like the officer that kicked and stamped on the thug's head lost control and acted in a way that a policeman...

    Condensate Leak

If its repaired correctly, there is no reason for it fail again. Sounds like it was never fitted correctly in the first place. Its standard practice to run pipework through areas that are hard to access, such as below floors, above ceilings etc.
