    Mitre acute angles

I need to cut a bead to fit into the eaves of my 25 degree pitched roof... so the bead actually needs to be cut at a pretty acute angle, on my mitre saw I'd have to go to 65 degrees which is far beyond what it can do. My basic mitre block can't either end even looking at a more expensive tool...

Is BG HomeCare worthwhile for a problematic system?

If they need doing they need doing, but I'm loath to spend time or money unless it does, I'd want to figure out the root cause first. Is it something one can tell visually by taking one in the garden and seeing how much crud is in there?

Is BG HomeCare worthwhile for a problematic system?

It is a big house so I think it was 22 in total when I had to count them all for the powerflush quote!! Several are very new but others could easily be 20 years old. I was chatting to our regular plumber on the phone whether we could remove one of the older ones and inspect it to see how full of...

Is BG HomeCare worthwhile for a problematic system?

Cheers @Harry Bloomfield. You are in an enviable position from my view :) Clearly there is no 'magic' to this it's a closed system with copper/plastic pipes, the boiler itself and steel radiators (they are all the modern type though some are old, no antique cast iron ones). Logically, any dirt...

Is BG HomeCare worthwhile for a problematic system?

We were advised to have it done as the system was filthy and causing damage. But how can one tell if the cleanse was not done well, or something else is to blame... what sort of things can be missed when doing a flush? I am imagining things like missing a radiator perhaps - everything looks good...

Is BG HomeCare worthwhile for a problematic system?

Thanks, just on that topic for future what should good practice be with adding additional inhibitor? Presumably the odd re-pressurisation is OK but if you replace a radiator or whatever you need to add more water back. Is there a rule of thumb here when and how much inhibitor to add? Thanks...

Is BG HomeCare worthwhile for a problematic system?

Typically every few months. The plumber's already established that's not the issue - well at least not this time :) We check it regularly but I actually can't recall the last time it dropped since we had something else fixed a few months back.

Is BG HomeCare worthwhile for a problematic system?

Whenever it needs it, we check regularly but it holds pressure well and typically doesn't need topping up often. Given I up up there restarting the boiler about twice a day it gets plenty of attention. As I said the plumber suspects a blockage leading to overheat based on past history but hard...

Is BG HomeCare worthwhile for a problematic system?

What kind of underlying problem could cause recurring sludge after a proper flush? I know the company took water measurements before/after and seemed happy but I have no way to know if they did it properly. They seemed fairly thorough in terms of accessing all the radiators which leaves me a bit...

Is BG HomeCare worthwhile for a problematic system?

I'm aware their sludge policy but if you get it flushed on their advice, then they DO cover it. I am not sure if you have to get them to do the flushing or they will accept others doing it and the cost of having it flushed again is hardly a pleasant thought but my concern is that if problems...

Is BG HomeCare worthwhile for a problematic system?

I must have half a dozen threads about my Baxi combi boiler over the last few years, we've had blocked exchangers, failed diverter valves and now - even after a professional PowerFlush in spring - repeated E110 overheat errors which the plumber suspects is another blockage. The system was very...

What temperature triggers cut out E125?

I was just wondering under what circumstances it would be lit but not warming? In my case seeing temperatures close to 90 it sounds like option ii but was just curious

What temperature triggers cut out E125?

That's interesting thanks. So i) could mean it's not actually lit or would that be detected separately? For ii) which is the selected temperature? Hot water or heating?

What temperature triggers cut out E125?

Nobody has touched it for weeks until today and like I say my heating and hot water is working fine before and after restarting it.

What temperature triggers cut out E125?

My baxi duo tec Combi 40 HE was off this morning with error E125 which seems likely down to overheating? It restarted ok and has been running fine today but I'm watching the display as I run a Bath and it's sitting about 88C (heating and hot water set to 75 and 58 respectively). We have had...

June 2022 Glazing Safety glass regs

That's useful to know. I wonder how many projects 'started' on June 14th this year, on paper at least :)

June 2022 Glazing Safety glass regs

Thanks for that - sorry you are quite right. I was reading a "new regulations" page on a supply website and and misread existing Glazing Safety rules as being part of the June 15th 2022 changes. As you say K4... and apparently also N1. My reading is that all parts apart from P&L are still...

June 2022 Glazing Safety glass regs

I don't know which Part of the regulations these changes come under but I'm aware the 2022 regs now stipulate safety glass is used in 'critical locations' e.g. doors and windows within 800mm of the floor. Similarly some changes on ventilation - trickle vents, etc. I am mid-way through...

Is it possible to 'cut in' against existing coving when studding out one wall?

Sometimes the answer is staring you in the face - thanks. As a DIY hack I'm tempted to use a multitool to plunge cut in place, is there a proper way or is that as good as anything? I'd probably only take out a short section to minimise how much of the existing wall can be affected.

Is it possible to 'cut in' against existing coving when studding out one wall?

Basic rectangular room with a simple plaster coving. I am thinking to stud on one end (for insulation). That obviously makes the long walls each a bit shorter so is there a way to re-do the corners on the coving in-place instead of removing the whole coving and replacing which would be messy. I...
