bungs are one of the best inventions ever. 2 ports, 3 ports heat exchangers and cylinders are all possible on bungs. just dont bung a cylinder to change the immersion :lol: great minimal investment.

guessing is right. if the boiler itself is screaming , the likely hood is the fan. but this involves entering the combustion chamber and replacing the fan can have an effect on the safe operation of the boiler. coupled with your mention of an overdue service, why not get a fixed price...

im sure you just turn of the cold mains and opena tap. its the coil/plate that has the 'tap' water on these.

i had a customer tell me he was sold his keston as the 'rolls royce' of boilers. i agreed. big, noisy, unreliable and cripplingly expensive when the do go wrong :lol:

i like to think im one of the 'good' guys at bg, but i will try my damndest to not have a keston to work on. i didnt htink they made boilers anymore. all i see are the celsius and 'c' type's

both of those bits need a gase safe eng to do. as its a keston, open your wallet very wide.

couldnt comment on your air vents but at least leave the on in the room with the boiler alone. get yourself a co detector too. as for swapping the valve over, you'll need to add a cylinder thermostat to the tank as well at which point you may as well do a fully pumped conversion at which point...

sorry but from here i can only say turn it off and get the fanheaters out. you need to get a profesional who can test the flue. it may just be a surface crack and needs no work and is just a warning. you may be able to just have the flue repaired as long as its otherwise safe. or you may just...

just an old and worn gravity system. get it serviced and make sure it will see your winter out safely and then rip it out and put something nice and efficient in next spring. nice little combi.

is this the permanant pilot version?, is the gas valve still set to pilot only?

sorry but these are the only boilers i've ever given up on. technical help line from ariston always results in being to to replace the pcb. which has never solved the problem. utter ****e. best you can do is just rip it off the wall and put a decen tboiler in. do ariston have a free post...
