How to activate isolation on this smart meter.

Umm, surely there is an isolator in the cu where the other end of the meter tails go ? I don't think you can get an isolator between the board fuse & smartmeter otherwise the latter might loose it's marbles!

    Missed with my mallet yesterday

Ouch!! I just hope you heal up quick....... I am finding that on wretched heart pills nothing heals up literally. I mashed a few toes last summer blood blisters, broken skin etc and it's still like I did it last week :( Old age is crap!

    Revisiting CCTV

And one of them has just brickwalled after only a few weeks of operation, no support except in Hong Kong, 8 hour time difference so question and answer ping-pongs take two WORKING days. Impressed NOT.

    Upvc problem with beading

Best I can think of is soft foam rubber on the inside held in place with masking tape to provide some pressure against the glass while you fit the outside beading, or phone a friend or if very desperate get married (an extra pair of hands is always very useful).

    Bad plumbing

Tried that, got a couple of duffers from there too. One consistently let me down on about four appointments then just stopped answering, the other left me with a non working gas fire because they couldn't work out how to re-assemble the isolating cock.

    Solar Design

Unfortunately ground mount has to be >5M from any boundary ruling it out for most ordinary mortals. As for roof protrusions the rules state 200mm max (I could not remember exactly). Here it is in government ruleese permitted development At least it's not quite as bad as trying to put a wind...

What to use to repair damage caused by removing skirting boards?

I had the same problem in a 1950's house when I had to remove the skirting. It was cement render in my case but I don't feel confident with that stuff so I used DIY white plaster. Remember the walls are very very dry so use a garden sprayer to wet them well before applying plaster. Given the...

GRP Roof ..1 month old. Thoughts?

Why don't you say what you are worried about ? All flat roofs are liable to puddling for a start, anything else ?

    Solar Design

You still haven't got it! NO there not made because your NOT allowed to change the angle from that of the roof.

    Solar Design

The first problem is you do not seem to have taken into account permitted development rules, these basically prohibit you from mounting your panels at a different angle to that of the roof, even on a flat roof the protrusion of the panel is limited to something like 100mm leaving very little...

Garage Door Insulation - Condensation on foil tape

Sounds like your putting wet wood in there to dry!! What if any ventilation is there, do you open windows to help the drying process ?

Garage Door Insulation - Condensation on foil tape

You may have to add a strip of insulation over the cold bars, it was 0 degrees here last night, anything much over 55% will condense in that. Have you checked for water leaks around the boiler, any damp patches on the ceiling, using it as a gym with to much heavy breathing etc ?

Garage Door Insulation - Condensation on foil tape

The reason it's only on the tape is that is uninsulated so a cold surface. It suggests to me your garage is humid, perhaps lacks ventilation ? Do you have a humidity source in there, tumble dryer, clothes line ? You might benefit from a dehumidifier (one that can deal with low temperatures).

    Revisiting CCTV

I hesitate to recommend as I am no expert but I just bought a couple of Reolink IP 4K camera's and despite my fumbling they do seem to work although there are subtle differences between the Windows and Apple app software.

    What have you bought today?

Just bought a set of extension ladders to reach the gutters & general maintenance, £190 Lyte from Screwfix, better than the B&Q offerings IMOP but time will tell. I used to have a nice pair but that was in another life, long gone.

CCTV 4K WIFI Camera recommendations please

That's a very good idea, a kind of backup if the camera detection proves to be a problem. One up for IP vs analogue :) Thanks for the FOV calculator, been playing with that one & it gives some pretty startling results but that's only because I am a CCTV newbie. I gave up on PIR's as I couldn't...

    Transformer

Two other things to check are : 1/ The DC connector polarity (marked on the underside of the adapter but unreadable here) 2/ Size of DC connector, they often have different barrel & pin diameters
