    Telephone cable - extending

I have Community Fibre and so far very good. The responded quite quickly when a fox bit through my fibre. They use an OEM Linksys Velop router with a 2.5G interface facing the (Adtran) ONT. The fibre comes through a hole in the wall into an internal junction box (photo #3) and a fibre of...

    Telephone cable - extending

Absolutely right, openreach have enough to do with the fibre rollout without worrying about minor unauthorised modifications to a soon to be obsolete technology, as long as they don't impact the service. https://www.openreach.com/fibre-broadband/retiring-the-copper-network

    City Fibre install

Openreach Limited are a separate company from BT Retail, but are wholly owned by BT Group PLC. The equality of access to services agreement that Openreach has with Ofcom required them to treat all organisations purchasing services from them the same. That includes BT retail. How well this is...

Branch off Henley block after meter with swa cable to outbuilding

Look up "discrimination/selectivity" with relation to fuses, MCBs etc. Look at the time/current trip curves for MCBs and various fuse types. You should then be able to work out why a fuse is being suggested as the upstream device. It's nigh on impossible to accidentally damage an SWA in the...

EV charger but Extra Low Voltage

You cannot avoid taking on liability. If something goes wrong you'd probably be liable. You have to take all reasonable steps that a provider of such a service would be expected to take to ensure that it is done safely, and then you should insure yourself against any subsequent liability that...

    Spur off Double Socket.

It doesn't have to. This is about posting information that is WRONG: "If the circuit is Ring Final Circuit (general assumption would be 32A Breaker and 2x2.5mm cable connected for RFC at the DB) , you can only take one unfused spur from the feed/supply socket. You cannot have multiple unfused...

    Spur off Double Socket.

That's a different matter from it not being permitted.

    Spur off Double Socket.

That's an appendix, isn't it? Informative, not normative. I've yet to see anybody reference an actual regulation number.

    Spur off Double Socket.

There is no regulation to that effect.

    Spur off Double Socket.

In which regulation of BS7671 is the above stated? Reg.number please, not guidance from an appendix which is only advisory.

Broadband issues, and no master socket found

There is a different version of the NTE5 faceplate that does not have the dsl filter but just provides the test socket and disconnects the extension wiring when removed. I have one of them as my master socket is downstairs at the front but my router is upstairs at the back, so I have an...

Shed Foundation has an ant problem

Works for weeds but not moss or lichens. I'd suggest blasting the gaps with a pressure washer to remove existing sand, weeds and soil, then when dry, resand and seal. It's worth washing, resand8ng and sealing the whole area.

Shed Foundation has an ant problem

Fill the gaps with paving sand then dribble PVA block paving sealer into them. Sets rock hard.
