As Terry says, make sure you you use a pipe insert, some valves have “pushfit” a connection, if using compression type then it’s recommended to use a copper olive and definitely no jointing compound on plastic pipes.

Not sure what sounder you have but the Texecom Odyssey sounders have a “Hold Off” feature, I think the left LED only flashing indicates “Hold Off Active, Tamper Circuit Open”

If you enter the engineer code (default 1234) then press “PROG” this will put in into “Programming” mode, you can then either re-program the panel or remove the panel or PIR covers without activating the tamper circuit. When finished you can put the cover back and press “RESET”

try replacing the 12v battery in the panel, a failing battery can cause all sorts of problems. If you know the engineers code, this will disable the tamper when you take the cover off

As already quoted, the boiler manufacturers installation instructions will normally state if the initial connections to the boiler should be in copper and if so, the minimum length.
