regarding the tank in loft the vent pipe is right on top of overflow pipe outlet and judging by the tide mark on the ball the water was going up the vent and splashing on the overflow pipe

have a look in the boiler faq at top of page theres a piece in there for sticking pump

the pump is sticking/stuck . its not used when runing hot water, only heating

trv s at may be easier to operate at high level and the valve its self may regulate better but the rad will not work to its full potential , try it sometime

if you want your rads to get hot put them on the bottom, been to a few at different property s that have had new combi and rads with trv,s at top , and all the larger rads had poor circulation in the bottom corner and poor heat output , no amount off balancing would improve them ...

we could do with a bit more info , make /model of boiler and if system is fully pumped or gravity hot water/ pumped heating as its all guess work at moment . and my guess is it has a slight leak on pump valve which is sucking air in when in use

have you got full pressure at whb taps, does the main stop tap need turning fully on

pump vessel with air and refit, refill system with water to 1 bar and see how it goes , check all rad valves in the mornings when rads are cold for leaks

if the vessel is still off the boiler you would be better pumping it up to 1bar before refitting, it dosnt need to fitted to the boiler first,
