How to install an external beam to be same height as internal

Hi, I've got an external I beam (I know it is the wrong beam but was specced like that by structural engineer) that is supposed to sit in line with internal. The problem is the bearings would have to be cut to accommodate 30mm drop to have it inline with internal. How would you go about that...

Advice needed for poorly finished brickwork and beam installation.

They came through a recommendation from a client few streets down from us. We looked at their job there and it was very well done.

Advice needed for poorly finished brickwork and beam installation.

The builder has agreed today to poor workmanship on the brickwork but denies anything wrong with the beam installation. He said he would cover someone else fixing the brickwork. Would you be able to advise whether the external beam being 50mm higher from internal one causes an issue with the...

Preparing floor for cill and new sliding patio doors.

Sorry I checked again the measurements (previously mismeasured). So if the concrete slab height is 30mm and the recommendation is 40mm do you mean I should be cutting through the bricks below? Another thing here is upon contacting the fabricator the door threshold is 50mm. Adding 30mm for the...

Would circular saw with masonry blade work here too?

Is this ladder damage superficial or sth to worry about?

Yeah not to lend a ladder:) Actually thinking about it again it is also apparently risky lending a ladder if an injury occurs and it can be connected to a badly maintained one. As for the ladder I think I will not be lending again but I did not decide to chase it with the neighbor as we are...

Is this ladder damage superficial or sth to worry about?

It was more like a small sized section of tree trunk thrown down from 4m high.

Is this ladder damage superficial or sth to worry about?

Apologies if this is a silly question as I've never owned a ladder before. I have lent my new tripod ladder to a neighbour to help with cutting down a small tree. While I was in another section of the garden I heard a loud bang and upon returning I saw a big scuff mark on one of the legs likely...

Thanks for advice. What about circular saw with diamond/masonry blade?

Preparing floor for cill and new sliding patio doors.

Thanks. Which tools would you use for the job? This is my first job of the type so have just rough ideas of how to approach it.

The door is planned to be low threshold yes. I take it you meant 32mm then so I can have flush threshold?

Preparing floor for cill and new sliding patio doors.

Hi, I am trying to prepare the space for new cill and sliding doors. It used to be a one level surface before connecting living room with conservatory. I am trying to establish how to finish it ready for the cill and doors - should I be taking out the concrete with an angle grinder and exposing...

Advice needed for poorly finished brickwork and beam installation.

Ok so spoke to the builder and he initially said he would arrange for someone to come and visit but went silent since then (2 days now). I preemptively spoke with my bank to find out where I stand and they said if the builder does not come back to assess/rectify in 15 working days from...

Advice needed for poorly finished brickwork and beam installation.

Thanks for confirming. I am trying to find leverage over the builder so wonder, apart from a shoddy brickwork, is the beam installation unsafe. One sad thing is that it was looked over by building regs inspector and approved without any detailed checks whatsoever (I doubt they know what they are...

Yes that is exactly what it is. Is this a reason for concern?

Advice needed for poorly finished brickwork and beam installation.

It is actually on a brickwork. The soldier course and row of bricks above are protruding outwards and so not level with the wall too. Yes it is a shocker with the gaps under solider course and I am going to be calling them to come back and fix it. Remains to be seen if that is going to happen...

Advice needed for poorly finished brickwork and beam installation.

Yes it is an I beam steel with the bricks cut into it. It's sitting on a imperial size brick each side. The I beam is 2700mm long and the opening was 2440 mm wide. It's to be an external door opening. See some more photos from the day of installation. Left side close up: From distance props...

Advice needed for poorly finished brickwork and beam installation.

Hi, I've had a reputable and recommended building company who installed additional external leaf steel lintel next to already existing internal concrete lintel. I've this job certified by council building inspector. I have also sourced the company from recommendation. Since then I had a brickie...
