    If the chatter comes from a load carrying relay the arcing can cause a heat build up. Not low voltage contacts.

    Sounds to me like a stop tap has been fitted back to front. The loose jumper acting as a check valve. Can’t happen with a lever valve though.

    You’ll need to remove the cistern and fit a new Donut washer between the pan and cistern. Check tightness of flush valve at the same time.

    Check the heating system pressure and if it’s low, top it up to 1 bar. The pressure should hold steady. If it doesn’t, you have a leak.

    Could be damp permeating from below. Floors take a long time to fully dry. And should be dry before laying flooring.

    Fit a siphon pipe instead. Once primed it’ll run forever or until yo run out of water.

    What boiler do you have? If you already had a full tank of hot water the pump wouldn’t respond to the demand from the programmer.
