Choosing the correct Central heating Pump

Well I am expecting a huge rise in electric use of course. My investigations and experiments tell me that my system will work well at 45c and compared to my current oil bill it should be significantly cheaper to run I asked about the pump as I don't like to waste money on a poorly sized...

Choosing the correct Central heating Pump

Hi all I have a large house that used to have very poor circulation to the furthest rads in the system. A plumber installed a much larger pump and told me that would sort out the problem. It didn't. I eventually had lots of floorboards up and found out that the whole system was using 15mm...

I live in west Norfolk near downham market. I had a loft aerial installed a few years ago and our freeview reception was pretty good. When the UK changed to all digital I thought it would get even better. It has got worse instead! our best transmitter is 'Sandy Heath' and I have looked...

Do I need to ask DNO if I am installing air source heat pump

I have never heard that argument for keeping my oil boiler. I was thinking of keeping it anyway and switching over to it at below zero temps ie. a bivalent system. But thinking about it your idea sounds good. I could even keep my old HW cylinder! ah but would the heat pump be more efficient...

Do I need to ask DNO if I am installing air source heat pump

From what I have read I think you are right. Poor installations are the main culprit. I have done a lot of research and have a friendly installer on another forum who has given lots of free advice so I'm as confident as I can be that the system will work ok. I'm not expecting COP's of 5 ! lol...

Fixing a Joist bearer to a sandstone wall

Hi we used resin bonded bolts in the end. they were absolutely amazing, when we were tightening them up not one of them turned in the wall. they were rock solid. considering the state of the wall which was sandstone with a rubble core, I though at least some of them would fail. Not not...

    Bad Toilet design ?

ah quite a sensible idea methinks :) i will have a look and see if it can move forward. But basically what you are all saying is that my idea of the shape of the bowl being badly designed is not right - so if that is the case yes i must think again.

    Bad Toilet design ?

Pretty horrible topic so apologies in advance. we have a toilet that is a fairly recent design bought from one of the sheds as a 'toilet to go' or a 'bog in the box' as i like to say. well the problem is that the poo hits the back or the sides first and always leaves smears or worse...
