How long is a piece of string? It depends on the camera definition, how much movement or continuous recording, and how long you want to keep recordings before they overwrite. I believe there are calculators on the web.

    SAMSUNG HRX 820 HDD ?

When you open up the DVR case you will find leads connected to the circuit board, that will go to the HDD - one for power and one for data.

    Swann - Samsung CCTV

You can certainly buy Hikvision analogue CCTV from official UK retail sources, e.g the one below. But there is a limited range of cameras compared with IP versions, so you might not be able to get the ideal focal lengths for your own installation...

Look at the camera sockets on the DVR. Round metal with one central contact = analogue. Flat plastic with several contacts = digital.

OK. I only had a quick look at an advert and it said "IP" somewhere.

    Swann - Samsung CCTV

The camera type you mentioned in your previous post appears to be an IP based device. That being so you will have ethernet cables running to the DVR, and these can certainly be reused for new IP cameras, if they are still in good condition and the connectors haven't been damaged. You can in...

    Residential CCTV Help

These. "The Hikvision Colorvu cameras are good I've got them on my house, I've only put them at ground floor level as they have a white light on them which allows the cameras to stay in colour 24/7. They are quite handy as it acts like a external light at night."

    Residential CCTV Help

I tried one for a while. It was a magnet for moths and spider's webs which continuously triggered the movement sensor. We now have sufficient outside lighting to allow the cameras to stay in daylight mode all night.
