Issues with new CCTV system install at work

"I spent a day on site with the company today and we have tried various things, they believe we simply can't get two HD images down the one RG59 due to the age of the cabling" It's unlikely that the cable has aged in such a way that it will selectively carry one video signal but not two. The...

    Please recommend a CCTV camera

If it's private land, the Council won't be interested. It's not their problem and they would rather the dumping was on someone else's land than in the street where they will have to clear it.

    Shock sensor on PVC door?

Just to report back, after some experimenting the SC-W seems to work as it should on the PVC door. I found it best on the second sensitivity setting which needed a really hard bang to set it off, so there should be little risk of a false alarm.

    Shock sensor on PVC door?

Navigator - it 'looks' like the same case as the earlier models, if you have one of those.

    Shock sensor on PVC door?

Thanks for the further comments. I had watched the two videos which are very helpful. Have ordered the SC-W and will have a play when it comes, it will clearly need careful siting on the frame. If I can't get a good compromise on sensitivity to avoid false alarms, I will just drop back to...

    Shock sensor on PVC door?

Wireless wouldn't make any difference to the operation would it?

    Shock sensor on PVC door?

We have an external PVC door for entry into a workshop attached to the house. There's a PIR in there already, connected to the Premier Elite panel. I'd rather like to deter a potential intruder when they are still working on the door and before they get in to activate the PIR. I've been...

Cctv / security cam wireless storage w/o the buildings wi-fi

There is also a serious privacy issue. If this is in a place of work you will at the very least need to have signs warning of cameras, which rather defeats the object. Read the official guidance: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/surveillance-camera-code-of-practice

Cctv / security cam wireless storage w/o the buildings wi-fi

Theft at work is a management issue. This is not something for staff to organise. Senior management should instruct the IT department to install suitable monitoring.

    PoE CCTV Cameras/Backup HD

No cameras are vandal proof, which is why outside some buildings they are protected with a wire cage. If they are PoE, that means they are connected with an ethernet cable to the recording device. They won't need a separate power supply if the NVR is also equipped for PoE. If the NVR has...

Can someone advise me on a wireless camera security system please

You'll have to decide whether you want totally wire free, or wireless video and wired power. Big difference.

    Texecom Connect internet connection speed

It's not a question of 'capping'. It connects at 100Mb/s, as many simple devices do. There is no need for it to connect at 1Gb/s. Even 100Mb/s is far faster than it needs for the small amount of data it passes.

Cheap DIY CCTV or other solution criminal damage to garden wall

I don't think fake cameras fool anyone. The driver won't see it anyway while he/she is busy manoeuvring. The only way you will prevent the damage is by physically preventing them from driving onto the pavement.

    Hikvision - replacement NVR

Our hikvision cameras are pre colorview, but even the 8Mp ones with IR turned off get reasonable colour pictures from street lighting and house outside lights. The big bonus with no lighting from the camera is very little reflection from spider webs.

Cheap DIY CCTV or other solution criminal damage to garden wall

Local police and council have both seen and used our cctv of the road, and been very grateful. But this isn't a case for cctv. If vehicles are driving over the kerb they are breaking the law and probably causing damage to that as well as your wall. In your place I would be making this a...

    BT FTTP Broadband

Been on Virgin for years. The service is great when it works, but customer service when it fails is dreadful. Will be moving to Zen as soon as Openreach gets to us with FTTP.

    BT FTTP Broadband

Virgin 1Gb is only 50Mb upstream, half the Openreach speed and with inferior latency.

Have been told that we need new fire alarm system. Advice sought please?

You don't say what the building is used for, but the insurers may have their own requirements for maintaining/updating fire security. Is their any public access? If so there will be local authority requirements too.

Annke kit direct connect to camera for image setup

I've no experience of that particular make, but the remote app should be able to control camera settings. Is your URL shortcut directing to an IP on your LAN, or is it going to a remote server somewhere? If the latter then it could be that the server has been discontinued. It happens with the...
