    6mm double insulated twin core and earth (I presume that sparky new his household stuff) and installed when the house was built in 1996. Needs a 45 amp, double pole switch to be fitted before the shower unit and if it is in the bathroom it needs to be corded. Plumbing needs an inline shutoff...

    Didn't get e reply to that part of my question. Household consumer unit new to me but I was a RM Mechanic with Autoelectrician who had to work outside with 240v Generators in snow ,hail and rain so I do know the hazards which is why I asked pertinent questions...

    Just thought of something else to ask, as you do. The 40 amp MCB comes with a 6kA, 10kA and 15kA rating and I read somewhere recently that the 6kA trips fewer times than the 10kA. Which would be best for a shower?

    I need to install a 40 amp mcb and search as I may I cannot find a like for like replacement anywhere. Does it have to be a MEM 40 amp MCB (AB40SB)(Type B) or is there another make that will fit in this consumer unit? It's for a 9.5KW shower and I still have one slot available on the left of all...
