Why Do some of my letters and spaces not register when posting on DIYnot?

The only time I have ever noticed a problem like this is when a computer gets 'tired'. If you're Processor isn't bang up to date and you're computer is on for a long time, the RAM gets used up and sometimes this can be a symptom. Failing that, I'd say it's a driver problem or a windows update...

    Masonry paint on timber cladding

No real harm in using the masonry paint in my opinion, but flaking after 8 years is quite normal I'd say. Especially if it's an outdoor cladding? Obviously using a wood paint might work better, but it'd still flake with age. If and when it does, then it just means it's due for a new coat!

    Plaster smooth or no?

As a rule, you're not supposed to sand down unpainted plaster. Furthermore, it would take you a long time and a lot of energy. If you can't get a smooth skim on it, consider lining paper. In relation to the paint, you could try a sieve. Or just pay close attention to it and make sure to remove...

Cylinder, coil pack or ignition cables?

BUMP!! Yesterday, when driving home, the same symptoms returned. Flashing engine light for about 20 seconds, then solid engine light and the car was bumpy in general. Engine shaking much more than usual. So this morning, I went out to check the usual. I decided to start by checking the same...

    burning oil quickly...

:D I know yeah. It's a relatively new problem. It's happened three times now. The first time I thought, well, I need to top it up and so I did. The second time, I thought, well that's weird as it was only a couple of weeks later, and I checked the dipstick, and topped up to half way between...

    burning oil quickly...

I do try to keep it half way between high and low on the dip. I only top it up when I get a warning, which tends to happen every few weeks if I'm turning a sharp descending corner!! I'm currently using 10W40 since it's an older car.

    burning oil quickly...

Hi guys, well since I've passed the car test, I've had to swap out a failing hazard switch, but I was lucky to pick one up from a breaker for a tenner. However, the car gets low on oil quite regularly. There isn't a leak. It's nice and tight, but it is burning up quick. I'm adding a litre of oil...

sony dslr a300 camera LCD screen

My Camera has the 'Sony Version' LCD screen. Very difficult to find the replacement part, especially for a reasonable price. If I fit the AUO Version of the LCD, will it work at all? Some of the AUO versions have backlights included now anyway.

sony dslr a300 camera LCD screen

SO the camera must have taken a knock. The screen fluid/liquid has spilt through and the LCD is now dead. Can I buy an lcd screen like this from ebay and fit it to solve the problem(obviously I'm not sure how easy or difficult it will be to fit it)...

skirting boards seperating sides, splitting up the job.

Well yes. To my knowledge, varnish as with oil paint and mid sheen/silk and even Matt for best results, you can bring it to a point, so long as that point is the end of one section, if you know what I mean? For example, varnish the skirting board completely all along one full wall, you can start...

Can scratch off the mist coat on new plaster. is this right?

Did you thin the paint enough? Is it fully dried(not just touch dry). AT this stage, you'll probably have to soldier on and hope for the best. If it's only touch dry, give it ore time. You should be able to sand it very lightly before the next coat and so this seems wrong to me.

SEAT LCD Headset Radio aircom display

MY one of these was missing a couple of buttons, and the pixels on the screen were mostly faded and dead. So I ordered a replacement from a guy breaking a Seat Ibiza(Mine's a Cordoba). The part arrived and I removed mine and fitted this replacement. It had all the buttons and seemed to be in...

    Damp patch

Clean off any mould that you can with Bleach and a wire brush. Wear gloves and a mask so as not to breath it in or get it on your skin, although I doubt it'd harm you that much! Once that is done, try a decent anti mould/anti damp type primer from Owatrol or Zinsser. Prime with one of these...
