Cylinder, coil pack or ignition cables?

Tried the redex and drove the car for 40 minutes today. Nothing has changed. :( Basically, the problems are only evident when the car is first started. The car starts, seems sluggish, then when I get into gear and drive the engine light flashes for about 20 seconds, and then goes solid, and...

Cylinder, coil pack or ignition cables?

I guess that's worth a try and not an expensive fix if it works!

Cylinder, coil pack or ignition cables?

Thanks Mursal, I'll check for more hoses and tubes at the back. Back on to the misfire...I should note that since I changed the coil, the car seemed to run better(with the exception of the misfiring if that makes sense?), and again today, with the new leads, it seems to be more responsive than...

Cylinder, coil pack or ignition cables?

This isn't my car but it's exactly the same engine cover. You can see where the 2 hex screws are located just under the 1.4mpi name. I removed the hose connected to the air filter housing, on the left, and I removed a thinner hose connected at the right hand side. I think these covers may...

Cylinder, coil pack or ignition cables?

Ok, well I have a ratchet set, and I can see the ends of the spark plugs when I remove the ignition leads. The ratchet set isn't magnetic, but it could maybe get the plugs out? What size adapter will I use? Also, I wanted to include a photo of that white gunge, as to me it looks like it might...

Cylinder, coil pack or ignition cables?

Well I've changed out the leads and still no change. I've no tool to remove the plugs to check them. I was going to take the engine cover off but I noticed that there was white gunk in the tube to the air filter? Very strange? I couldn't figure out how to get the cover off though. I removed two...

Cylinder, coil pack or ignition cables?

Well, the plugs were only replaced in late summer and they were expensive high performance plugs as they didn't have a standard plug in the shop at the time. And they've done only 4k, so I reckon I'll just hope for the best with changing the leads. If the problem persists, the plugs will be my...

Cylinder, coil pack or ignition cables?

Thanks John. You're a God send! :) Do I twist at the plug end also, or will they pull out?

Cylinder, coil pack or ignition cables?

Sorry John, I don't really follow. This is them. Is it not a simple pull out and plug in? Or is there a bit of twisting or/and clicking involved? Don't wanna screw it up!

Cylinder, coil pack or ignition cables?

Ignition cables arrived. I'm going to swap them around this afternoon. They're pull out, push in on both ends right? :)

can a mobile phone text contain a "virus"?

If you're concerned, just do a reset, or a factory reset. Back up your files first. My phone started acting up around Christmas(Christmasitis!!) hoping to make me complain and someone buys me a phone for Christmas!! :) But yeah, it was acting strange, stalling, hanging etc. I did a reset and...

Will Bedec Multi Surface cover silicone sealant help please

Their Multi Surface Paint/Primer will probably cover the silicon and the rest, but like all MSP's they have varying degrees of success and longevity. They usually crack away within a short period of time to my experience. I remember a product called ESP...

Reinstalled Windows 7 - now no WiFi

I know for a fact that some 32 bit machines blue screen out regularly when 64 bit OS is installed. That doesn't mean that it happens in the opposite direction of course but it is worth thinking about. If there isn't a 32 bit driver for your wireless adapter, just try the 64 bit one anyway. It...

can a mobile phone text contain a "virus"?

Don't think it's possible to get a virus from a text only message.

    Majorelle/IKB paint

It's a lovely colour. No reason why it won't cover well on lining paper. The paper may pop out in pockets when it's wet but 95% of the time it pulls back in once it dries again.

Cylinder, coil pack or ignition cables?

Nobody sells loose leads anymore! I've ordered a full set from micksgarage as they are by far the best value. Full set for under 30 euro. Hopefully they'll arrive before Friday!

Cylinder, coil pack or ignition cables?

I'll probably buy it tomorrow and I'll report back once it's fitted! :)

Cylinder, coil pack or ignition cables?

I suppose the simplest thing to do now is to buy the short cable. Would hardly cost more than a tenner. As it's the shortest one, I cannot check it on another cylinder. I could check a longer one on the cylinder in question but I might not get a definite result without having the 4th lead in...

Cylinder, coil pack or ignition cables?

Ok John, I've done that test now. The shortest cable made very little difference to the engine, but there seemed to be bright spark coming from it when I unplugged the cable. The other 3 cables changed the engine behaviour dramatically, and one of them shut the engine off completely. I got a...
