    Electrical work?

Hmm that's very much not correct! The light switch needs changing for an FCU (Fused connection unit) with a 3/5amp fuse for the light. I wouldn't advise having the same 'electrician' back if he's incapable of carrying out such a simple job correctly.

    3 Gang Light Switch Query

Hmm as I suspected, had they been on the same supply it could have been re-wired using the existing wiring. As explained previously you need to obtain a new supply for the outside light from elsewhere, can you run conduit on the outside walls or would this look really unsightly?

    Electrical work?

Yeh looks like he's mis-wired the boiler supply, one of the browns needs to be connected to the same terminal as the red. Out of curiosity what rating is the MCB that isolates the supply to the light/boiler?

    3 Gang Light Switch Query

Quick question to to OP....are the landing light and hall/downstairs light on the same circuit at the consumer unit? Basically have you got a separate upstairs/downstairs mcb/fuse?

    circuit breaker loose wires burned

Why is he replacing the whole consumer unit, just needs a new neutral bar and cable from the main switch. Obviously cut back and re-terminate any other connections that have been damaged, just seems overkill and unnecessary expense to me.

My GardTec Alarm has turned off after a power cut

May be a dull question but have you checked the mains fuse inside the panel, its located on the connector block shown in your picture? Just pull the little peg out and it will have a fuse on it.

No satellite signal in new communal system

Is there a managing agent or caretaker for the building? You might need to ask them to activate the outlets in your flat if they are not all connected by default, its also possible the system hasn't yet been commissioned if your one of the first to move in.

4 ceiling roses - one switch. Add Switch for one light

Hmm no that doesn't really account for the two-way switch wiring, it looks like there was another switch at some point, maybe further clues will be revealed when we see the extractor fan wiring, in your double switch there is a newer brown cable and a blue one hidden just above, that could be...

4 ceiling roses - one switch. Add Switch for one light

Ahh don't you just love builders electrics! Simplest way to achieve what you want is as already suggested to change the current double switch for a single and wire it so the lights are on all the time. The install a new surface mounted switch inside the extension door for the 3 lights and a pull...

It's an earth strip that helps strike the tube in cold conditions, you'd usually find them in cold rooms, fridges, freezers etc.

Can someone help ID what this switch is

Have you got a double socket at floor level to the left/right of that switch as your looking at the wall? Looks identical to a friends house, switched spur in the same place used for a wall mounted fan heater which was long since gone, opened it up to see if it could be removed to find 3 2.5mm...

    Dead RCD switch?

I hate to break the bad news but i think you will also need an electrician to fix another issue you have, look closely at the trip for 'smoke alarms' a bit of the front is missing exposing the live internal workings. This needs replacing asap and could be dangerous.

    Dodgy Christmas lights?

The flex isn't double insulated, they don't comply with British safety regulations and are a risk, I wouldn't use them. Keep the plug and bin the lights, get a refund from the seller too!

Help with wiring double light switch.

Oh for gods sake! Ring an electrician as you clearly don't have a clue what your doing and are putting yourself and your family in danger, if you have have done any electrical work elsewhere in the house ask them to check it too as you have most likely ballsed something up with that as well! I...
