Minimum backbox depth for cat 6 data module?

These are my go to cat6 euro modules, fitted hundreds of them to 25mm boxes with no issue at all: https://www.comtecdirect.co.uk/product/ultima-cat6-modules/PG0701/779332

    Combining bathroom extractor fans

I've had this situation before where multiple supplies have been an issue, the solution I proposed was a central fan unit with a ceiling PIR in each bathroom to activate it, all fed from single switched spur/isolator.

Drilled into wire, how immediate of a fix is required?

Could the cables be feeding a socket on the other side of that wall or is there a blanked off socket behind the radiator perhaps? That's not unheard of especially in Wimpey houses built in the 80s-90s.

    Electric underfloor heating is tripping

That's a great suggestion by ericmark, if you feel competent enough change the fused spur for a socket and plug something high powered like a kettle into it and see if the RCD trips. If it does the issue is the feed to the UFH, if it doesn't then there is an issue with the UFH however this could...

    Electric underfloor heating is tripping

Before you get the UFH Specialist in I have a couple of questions: 1. Has the UFH ever worked, I assume not as you said you switched it on to test? 2. Where did they take the supply for the UFH from, a nearby socket or have they run a dedicated circuit back to the consumer unit? If they have...

    Connecting fridge to cooker circuit.

Still no issue with this, just change the socket under the counter to a twin socket, it's perfectly safe and acceptable.

    Connecting fridge to cooker circuit.

Change the cooker socket for a twin socket, plug the gas spark for the oven into one and the fridge into the other, then make a cup of coffee using milk from your newly installed fridge :)

    Looking for some help.

@Jackster J The two cables that come out of the sensor and out the back of the post, are they both looping down and back up into the plastic box with all the connections?

Mystery grey wire in ceiling rose

That looks like a pretty rough re-wire. Connections outside of an enclosure behind the switch, not compliant, and no brown or blue sleeving on the live/neutral cables. That black cable connected to the switch has a little too much copper on show for my liking too! I wonder what else they...

    Minigrid review.

I'm curious, why didn't you just fit a regular switched fused spur with a flex outlet as that's essentially what you've built with the mini grid? For me I prefer MK grids, you know what you're getting, terminal sizes are generous and pretty much all wholesalers stock the range, I've never had...

    Surface garden brick lights

You can probably just clip some 2/3 core flex to the back of the sleepers at that level and link through the lights. If you're concerned about the cable being damaged by anyone with a spade then I'd run the cable in some PVC conduit attached to the back of the wall. SWA isn't going to work for...

    Surface garden brick lights

Are you filling behind the sleeper wall with earth/soil? If yes how far from the surface would be the cable running through to the lights?

Replacing old Fluorescent Lights with LED batten

Whilst I don't disagree with you I tend to find that in most cases the fluorescent batten being replaced is decades old, the diffuser (where fitted) is caked in dirt and grime and the lamp is at the end of it's life too if not already failed which is why I'm usually there, so all those factors...

    door bell stopped working

Do you have mains power going in at the top of the transformer when you check with the multi-meter? If you do then it looks like the transformer is dead, if you don't then you need to trace the supply cables and find the issue on that side. You've tried turning the two MCBs that are off back on...

Replacing old Fluorescent Lights with LED batten

I'd recommend these fittings: https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/GLBATC4.html Fitted a few of them recently, it's a standard batten body so will retrofit fluorescent fittings no problem, they look nice and you have a choice of colour temperature's to suit the clients personal preference.

Issues with new CCTV system install at work

No it's not my install but I'm certainly not your average customer. Where I work we have 7 sites, my current role is IT Projects Technical Lead and I have over 20 years experience in the IT industry. One of the projects I'm currently leading is the replacement of our entire CCTV estate which has...

Issues with new CCTV system install at work

The Pars - Thanks for your reply. Hmm that makes sense and it's good to hear from someone who has experience with these particular multiplexers. From memory I believe the quote stated 5MP cameras, would it be possible to change this as a setting on the cameras? I don't think the DVR settings...

Issues with new CCTV system install at work

Edit: The pics don't show the poor quality very well, the patio image is HD perfect quality whereas the car park one is very low quality and pixelated. For example on the cameras giving us a stable HD image I can read the car number plates perfectly, on the bad images you've got no chance...

Issues with new CCTV system install at work

Evening all, I'm after some advice with regards some issues I'm having at work with a new CCTV system that has been installed at one of our sites, a project that I have been overseeing. A bit of history, the site has recently been refurbished as part of which the CCTV system was...
