    Mist coat sticky??

I have written a fair few essays in my time but I have to admit that I would find 'How to understand sticky' would baffle me. Please clarify!

    Paint mixing equivalents

Don't know of any website, sorry. And for Dulux satinwood, you won't be able to get anything mixed in that colour in satinwood that's any cheaper than the original. I think the minimum you can get is 750 ml, not sure. In the grand scheme of things it is not a huge outlay, is it? And at...

    Paint mixing equivalents

How about if you tell us the paint make, finish and colour you are trying to match and we'll see if we can help. Alternatively, take a patch of the paint (at least the size of a 5p coin) to a Dulux decorating centre. They will scan it and come up with the code for the equivalent, which you...

    Painted wall cracking

The paint is clearly failing to adhere to the substrate. What sort of paint is it (make and type?) What sort of surface is under the paint and what preparation was done prior to painting?

    stripping paint

None of the paint strippers available now - even the trade only ones - are a patch on what Nitromors used to be like. There are good reasons for that, but it does make it harder to get a good, paint-free finish. Hot air stripper...poky stripping tool...Nitromors in the grooves...lots of wire...

    Mist coat sticky??

Ha! I read the thread title and thought that you meant you had a problem with your mist coating ending up being sticky to the touch! Duh. :? Ignore me. Sounds like a good idea for a permanent thread.

    Spray Painting Furniture?

I am not familiar with the Bolgers but I do not think you can use ordinary trim paints in a spray gun. You would be advised to consult the manufacturers as to whether any particular paint is suitable and if so, by how much to thin it and with what. I would apply undercoat by hand then...

    Wallpaper paste..??

No, it is not just a case of 'paste is paste is paste'. There are starch based wallpaper pastes and non-starch based. |There are paste the wall paste, and paste the paper pastes. Open one roll of wallpaper and read carefully what it says on the back of the label - it will tell you what...

    What paint?

If you did not dilute it, it was not a mist coat. Did you paint the undiluted paint onto bare plaster?

    1400 lining paper

Why would you prefer to do that, please? :o Apart from anything else, pasting the wall is quicker (no booking time) and you don't need the space for a pasting table.

I know! Dark glasses. Then you can't see the cracks. Or even better, the Artex itself.

    Restoring MDF kitchen unit doors

To be honest, I wouldn't bother. Whatever you do will be a waste of time and money as they will still look tatty. Nothing looks worse than painted, swollen, sanded melamine and the sort of paint you would need is expensive. If you are not planning to move house, wait until you can afford new...

    Exterior gloss query

The code is for the colour only, not for the finish. You can usually get any particular colour made up in any finish or type of paint (o/b, w/b, etc) - there are a few exceptions. You may also find that for some types of paint they will only mix a minimum of 2.5 litres (even if you don't want...

exterior wood/metal paint OK to paint stone window sill?

I agree with the technical advice above. Aesthetically though, it's a poor choice. For the cost of one litre of eggshell or masonry paint (about £20) it's really not worth it.

exterior wood/metal paint OK to paint stone window sill?

Do you really want very shiny stone sills? No. I'd go for masonry paint (or at least eggshell) in a tone - or even two tones - lighter than the door, if I were you. Otherwise people will see it and think 'He was just using up that paint and it looks rubbish'.

    Childs bed- tough paint required

I'd use a good quality water based eggshell with appropriate undercoat and crucially leave it as long as possible to cure once the top coat has dried. If the child uses the bed within a week of its being painted he is likely to prevent it toughening up properly. If you want to ensure that the...
