    What underfloor heating system

Hey guys, I’m looking for underfloor heating but there's so many to choose from! I have read to avoid ‘pack’ and ‘kits’ as they work out so expensive, so what do I go for and what to avoid? Eventually there will be 2 or 3 ‘zones’ that is like to be able to control separately..? Any...

I don’t suppose you’ve got the whole drawing with what the pointers are explaining? :D

    Timber frame footings.

Thanks for your help. With regards to the frame breathing, the vent would be between the cement board and the insulation, not the framework? I may be completely wrong, so would appreciate correction if this is the case, but using an online u value calculator... 89mm studs, insulated inbeween...

    UFH different floors.

Thanks, sounds promising. I’ve researched and they’re so many different way of doing it. It seems the best/most effective way is to screws over the timber floors. Insulation between the joists, heating pies, screws over level with tops of joists, re-board, then floor covering...

    Timber frame footings.

Is this sarcasm or am I actually getting somewhere? o_O Lol! What would be achieved with the 140mm studs? From what I have researched, I can achieve the u value with the 89mm even without the 50mm on the outside. I’ll look into the render query. I was thinking of one of these thin coat...

    Timber frame footings.

Thanks for the suggestions. Am quite happy using the studwork method that I already know. Just need to get these details nailed. Thanks

    Timber frame footings.

So here's my latest. Note there will be insulation between the studs. Not sure if it needs to be full filled or if it will cause problems if not. Have used 140mm blocks to spread the thickness of the wall over. I contemplated insulated plasterboard as well but not sure if it would be...

    Timber frame footings.

Speed and workability. I’ve worked with timber a lot more than I have than bricks. Plus I can get a lot these materials through work Cheers

    Timber frame footings.

Exactly my thinking now that I’ve drawn it and looking at it. Just can’t seem to find any examples, unless I’m searching the wrong thing ‍♂️

    Timber frame footings.

Here a better idea of my earlier thinking. Now I look at it, does the inner leaf create a thermal bridge? Do I even need it at all? Thanks

    Timber frame footings.

So there’s no cavity below dpc in that situation? In my drawing I’ve got the frame on the outter leaf, and then battens and rendered cement board, which would end up overhanging. Too much overhang isn’t ideal, any other suggestions appreciated Thanks

    Timber frame footings.

Thanks woody. Yes, that was very rough on the only bit of spare paper I had in my van and had to hit it down quickly before I forgot it! Will draw it up on the computer and see what it looks like. Thanks.

    UFH different floors.

Hey guys! I’m in the early stages of planning my rear extension and would like some advice on the wet underfloor heating. The existing floors are suspended timber, and the extension will be solid. I will be knocking the kitchen into the extension so would like to run UFH in both old and new...

    Timber frame footings.

Hey guys. I’m currently in the early stages of planning my rear extension, of which I will be tackling most of the work myself. Being timber frame, I’ve been looking for ideas on how the footings and getting out if the ground will work but can’t much info on it. Please excuse my very poor...

    upvc clad timber framed extension

I’m sorry to drag an old thread up again. It’s just I’m planning something similar and am interested in seeing the build up of this. Was it build under building control regs?

48sqm kitchen extension. £30k all in

My 500x800 was a guess on the thinking that, as it’s timber frame, it’ll be lighter. Hmm yeah, that’s the same measurement taken from outside ground level to soffit, so need to show the build up in more detail. Just found out that this isn’t strictly PD, so might have to fork out on proper plans

    Rear extension requirements

Thank you. I completely missed that despite looking through the whole lot! I have gone through the local planning website for people that have applied for cert' of lawfulness in my road and there seems to be a few. I can only guess they also missed the above point, and got away with it? IF i...
