Changing a washer on a tap

We have drawn a blank. We removed the 'cover' but it won't go up far enough to allow us to get a spanner into the nut. We have tried unscrewing the screw on the top but it won't move even after penetrating oil and WD40. We have run out of ideas, can anyone help. Thanks in advance. New tap...

Is this Dunelm Augusta/ Bellus light fitting adequately earthed?

Ok we're getting there... Having looked closer at the screw (see below) it does seem to be serrated on the underside so provided we screwed it in firmly would this negate the need for a washer? Thanks in advance.

Is this Dunelm Augusta/ Bellus light fitting adequately earthed?

Thanks for that and also please, on the middle diagram below, is each washer fitted between the screw and the outside of the fitting, between the fitting and the ceiling strap, or on the inside of the ceiling strap. Thanks again.

Is this Dunelm Augusta/ Bellus light fitting adequately earthed?

    17. Carefully position the ceiling plate over the ceiling bracket and firmly secure using the washers and screws. It is vital that these locking washers are fitted as they are required to achieve good earthing. The fitting came without any washers and they weren't mentioned in the component...

Our set-up is Main TV in front reception and nearest amp is LG Small TV in kitchen, furthest from am is also LG Middle TV is 20 year old Toshiba CRT with Freeview box. The co-axial from this TV is connected as the power supply to the amp. Main/nearest TV was unsuitable for the power supply...

    TV aerial - external splitter/booster

Yes, the guy came back yesterday evening. He replaced the internal splitter with a Technomate TM-4 masthead amplifier placed at the split cable, with power supply from one of our TVs. The set-up may not be not the best, but we are getting good reception on all the channels we need. Again...

    TV aerial - external splitter/booster

Cheers Harry - bloke is coming back this afternoon and at least I now have an idea of what I should say to him. Should've asked on here first - you live and learn ! Will remember next time. Many thanks for all your help

    TV aerial - external splitter/booster

Wow, that was some (first) reply, Lucid. Will have to re-read it with a clear head tomorrow to fully understand it. Thank you very much. Also many thanks for the more specific parts recommendations. Thanks again, Harry. Loft is easily accessible and has power so is probably the way to go. Just...

    TV aerial - external splitter/booster

He did say our original cable signal strength was very good so should be ok to split 3 ways, but he would put in a booster to make sure. (The kitchen TV involves a long cable run) So, as you suggest, I was expecting to see an 'external grade' amp and splitter combi box installed roughly near to...

    TV aerial - external splitter/booster

Many thanks for your speedy reply. I know nothing about this sort of thing, but it didn't look right even to me, lol. Sadly, he comes up 'recommended' on checkatrade. Could you give me an idea of what he should have installed, please. Many thanks.

    TV aerial - external splitter/booster

We had an existing continuous cable (brown in photo) from the roof aerial to the aerial socket in our front lounge. We wanted two new aerial sockets - in our rear lounge and in our kitchen (we had previously been using internal "set top" aerials for these TVs). The quote for the work stated...

    Fence Post Advice

Thanks for your reply. Any tips on snapping the paving slab? Being a novice I can see me ending up with more than two bits of paving slab.

    Fence Post Advice

I dug out an old metpost and have ended up with a two foot wide and deep hole (with solid concrete/rubble at the bottom of the hole). I am putting a new fence post in (six foot high fence). As I have ended up with such a big hole (doh!) what would be the best way forward? Thanks in advance.

Bosch Maxx WFL2450 won't spin after wash

Just as a 'wrap' for anyone looking back at this thread. We are just about up to changing the brushes ourselves but it would take us three times as long as a pro, so we got in an engineer who on investigation said that the brushes were fine. He checked the control panel with his meter and...

Bosch Maxx WFL2450 won't spin after wash

Thanks very much for the above replies. I'm just confused as if it was the brushes why would the drum revolve on the wash cycle but not on the spin. Speaking from ignorance here.

Bosch Maxx WFL2450 won't spin after wash

Machine washes and we presume it drains as the clothing is left soaking wet but not sitting in water. However the final spin isn't working. Also doesn't spin on Spin Only setting. We have checked the drain filter at the front and it is clear and we can rotate the impeller by hand. Thanks, as...

    tower mid-position valve val328mp malfunction

Have changed the motor successfully and touch wood, an hour in, CH and HW are back working. Plenty of people on internet managed to do this in about ten minutes. Took us, albeit with not the best tools for the job, most of an afternoon. Advice to other amateurs like ourselves; start early...
