    Your right in you need to dot and dab a new piece of plaster board in , you need to drop it in so it's about 3mm below the surface then pop a skim on top which will level it to the rest of the wall Was there something sticking out of the back of the fire which required that piece to be cut out?

    Just use a smaller bit - simple as that If I am drilling into a suspected problem wall I use a drill size down from the one I want to use and I see if the plug will fit , that way hopefully I don't screw myself over by drilling the hole too large and having to bodge the plug in

    Did you polish that skim at all? Doesn't look like you have I'm struggling to see bits were there aren't blemishes For the worst bits mix up some more skim and fill it in then get very busy with some sandpaper Although you are correct that needs reskimming it would be easier to reskim then...

    Visit b and q and goto paint section Look at samples , pick ones that you think would match and either buy the tester pots and paint them on something to see if they go with your units or take the tester cards home and do the same When decided buy enough paint to paint your kitchen Job done...

    Not tried a solid door but lying a door down bow side up and adding weight to the bow section or screwing the door down will remove a bow, sometimes using wet towels helps too
