    Car scrappage schemes

If you decide to scrap it, try phoning a metal recycler rather than a car scrap yard. I'm not up to date with prices but recently you could get more by driving it over a scrappy weighbridge than selling to a car breaker.

    Zanussi gas oven not working

On our Stoves cooker, the (electric) oven doesn't work if the clock isn't set/working. I reckon your problem lies with the timer.

    Windows 10 Caps Lock Issues

I had some strange typings with a wireless keyboard and mouse set until I changed the USB port the receiver was plugged into.

    Outside lighting

I'm not an electrician but since you've had no replies I'll offer some basic advice. You can run two lights off one Fused Connection Unit (fused spur), probably fit a 3 amp fuse You could even have a double switch after the FCU so you can control the lights independently. Or you can fit a...

Combined microwave oven keeps tripping breaker.

I can't answer with any certainty but can confirm I've had our combined oven/microwave in bits twice now to change the bulb. There are no fancy seals or anything to worry about on ours - just a few screws around the casing as you would expect.

To cove or not to cove...

Tell her how much mess it will make when removing it, then tell her she can do it if she wants.

LED PIR Security light - to plug or not to plug ?!

I have similar, here's the thread where I asked the same thing... Basically yes you can have your light on an FCU, and have two cables on the supply side of it to maintain the ring. Probably fit a lower rate fuse for the light, and, stating the obvious here - you won't have the use of that...

    Flushing Central Heating Radiator

In theory it's easy to drain and refill, but you can run into problems getting all the air out. The Scottish Gas guy working on mine had problems bleeding the pump - so much so that he was about to fit a new pump thinking mine was faulty. Tread carefully.

    Flushing Central Heating Radiator

Yes it looks quite dirty. Perhaps wait for those with more knowledge than me but I'd say your system would benefit from a flush.

    Flushing Central Heating Radiator

Take a clear glass up to the loft with you, fill it with some water from the tank and look at it. Ideally you want it fairly clear. The tank can build up with sludge, if yours has then it's best to empty it, clean it and refill it. This stops the mucky stuff getting into your system. Just...

    Flushing Central Heating Radiator

I'm latt too mate :) The fact my pipe was hot made no sense to me at the time either, but hey-ho lol. I'm just trying to save the OP some cash swapping out TRVs if they're ok and it's the pipework that's the problem.

Yes, your spanner needs to go left. Ideally hold the valve body with another set of grips.

Set a Galaxy 500 system correctly

I'm not an alarm expert and I know for a fact that Galaxy Guy has infinitely more knowledge on your system than I do. Also, my system is a Galaxy G2, so it might be completely different. However, that being said... Mine has Exit Time and Entry Time too. For the Exit Time the manual states...

    Flushing Central Heating Radiator

It could be the pipework or the TRV. My system with the same symptoms (including the hot microbore pipe up to the TRV) was the pipework. The next step would be to remove the pipe from the TRV and see if water flows well through just the pipe. Turn the system off. Shut off the TRV valve (this...

    Flushing Central Heating Radiator

I'm not a plumber but learned a bit about my gravity system. To test the pipework without removing the radiator... Turn the system off. Turn off both rad valves. Open the bleed screw - you should get virtually no water coming out. Now open one rad valve and open the bleed screw - you should...

    New furniture

Cut the tips off the claws with nail clippers. Not the perfect solution if the cat is allowed out since it might need its sharp claws for climbing or fighting, but it worked for us.

    Galaxy Keyfobs - Part set

According to my installation manual there are three different types of keyfob: 5804, KTC805, and TCB800m. With the first two the manual states how to Full Set and Unset the system only (it's the same when using Proxtags or cards). However the TCB800m has instructions for changing protocols...

Consumer unit full - what are my options?

The spark who fitted ours split the incoming feed into two, and fed an additional small consumer unit for the car charger with the split-off. I'm not a spark but I believe there's a maximum load consumer units can handle. For example in my particular house I believe we're not supposed to fit...

    Update on battery re Supra

The (reasonably new) battery in my mother's 2006 Ford Focus was going a bit flat when it was left for months at a time. I connected a motorcycle trickle charger and had no further problems. I put it on a timer for a couple of hours per day IIRC.

    Insulation and loft boarding

I'd opt for choice d) but I wouldn't bother installing to 270mm thick anywhere. See this thread... https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/free-loft-insulation-questions.493394/#post-4041723
