    Stuck drain cover

    Inspection Chamber holding water

Following on from Hugh above. Has the developer / builder undertaken a CCTV survey? if so Bet they did not show it to you. CCTV is a must, sorry about that OK will cost a wee bit, but if YOUR CCTV survey proves that there is indeed an issue, of [say] back fall, or the drain line dips under the...

Mountain mj, good evening. I assume this house is new to you, not actually a new build? Was it empty for a considerable time prior to your purchase?? at a guess about one year perhaps??? [pure guess] If it was empty for a long time, condensation would be a first consideration, especially if...

    Flat concrete roof rust

Harry. The perforated material is / was a permanent shutter not meant to be removed just left in place, it also [when new] was capable of supporting the slab, now it is corroding not so much support. Back in the day, Steel mesh and or embedded bars were far more expensive than leaving in a...

    Inspection Chamber holding water

Suggest you make "discrete" inquiries with all of the neighbours as to potential drainage issues, see how many have had an issue and how many have similar problems, which in turn points towards a design / and / or a build defect. If the Builder / developer will not give you any "useful"...

    Ceiling crack in bedroom

Jaynay, good evening. Nice straight line, it is a joint between two plasterboard ceiling boards. Remedy? apply a skim of plaster to the entire ceiling? Or, Apply a thick lining paper, not as good as above but will "mask" the worst effects of the crack. Or, carefully rake / cut out the...

Have seen concrete laid in an underfloor void the entire area of a room [basically] and it was thought the concrete was installed to stop ground water ingress in that area of the property, this was a Georgian property. Ken

wilfster, good evening. Looks as if the solid floor + carpet is has a high probability of being your source. What may ??? be occurring is that in Summer the relative humidity rises, i have been watching my Hygrometer [part of a "multi-Function clock"] rise by about 10 Points. The higher...

Cost Severly of cutting back a large cherry tree & insurance question

Fast_Muchly, good evening. As for your Question 2.? As a rule, you can only make an Insurance for something which in some way is damaged BUT? you MUST own that which you are making a claim for. If something [say] falls off your property and damages an other persons "property" you cannot make...

water coming from my roll top bath

Call the Supplier and the maker. Carefully check for "Hairline" cracks, use a strong torch, shine the beam not "at" the surface but along the lengths of the bath sides helps spot cracking, also watch the area around the waste for cracking. Ken
