Should new windows be set back?

Hi, Just building a small workshop in garden, nothing substantial. Going to fit a couple of small uPVC windows but want the external walls rendered after with silicone render. Should the window frames be set back slightly to form an external reveal that will then be rendered? Or should they be...

Underfloor heating cable insulation sleeve damage

Did the continuity test as per installation and get same reading as before. Also no visible damage to the cable itself, just the scraped off insulation.

Underfloor heating cable insulation sleeve damage

Hi, Just scraped a bit of insulation off a 200w fastwarm underfloor heating cable, can this be fixed? The cable itself is undamaged, it's just the bit if insulation sleeve is damaged and exposing the cable. I was thinking a bit of liquid electrical tape painted over it, doing 2 coats. The...

    Spray painting linear shower drain

Morning, In the process.of fitting a set room shower tray with a stainless steel linear drain. The drain will be tiled in the centre so it's only the trim round the edges on show, they are stainless steel, but the shower mixer etc is brushed bronze. Are there any suitable ways of getting the...

    Tap brand & quality??

Yes, got a feeling they are, the name Core appears in both as a product range and Scudo do one along these lines.

    Tap brand & quality??

Thanks. Have you had experience with Drench, or just own brand stuff in general? Problem is we're looking at brushed bronze and there seems to be limited availability from known brands. If anyone has any recommendations then I'd be happy to take a look at those. Cheers.

    Tap brand & quality??

Both claim to offer a lifetime guarantee on those bath taps. However reading the reviews and feedback Drench seem reasonable, UK Home Living has limited but abysmal reviews, so I guess it's a case of if it fails how likely are the guarantees going to be honoured without hassle? Think I'll pay...

    Tap brand & quality??

Hi, Refitting a bathroom and looking at showers, bath taps etc. Found some we like on Drench.co.uk, also found almost identical taps on other websites but much cheaper, so was wondering if they're likely the same thing, just rebranded? Or could they be the same design but with cheaper internals...

Cheers, I guess that what it is then. It's currently just an open fireplace, but having a Jetmaster firebox fitted. I'll tile over the old vent. Thankyou for your help!

Hole at base of open fireplace hearth

Thanks for reply. Yes, assumed I wouldn't, was mostly curious what it was for. This fireplace isn't an original part of the bungalow, bungalow was built mid-50s, this fireplace was added maybe 30-40 years ago, so perhaps not even related?

Hole at base of open fireplace hearth

Hi Just doing some work on the fireplace hearth, planning to remove the old brickwork and rebuild it with a tiled top that matches the tiled floor. Whilst removing existing tiles I found a small hole at the front that leads down into the floor, approx 3 inches in size. I can feel a slight draft...

    Megaflow with iBoost, supply cable?

Sorry John, I wasn't clear... the Megaflow hasn't been installed yet, it's just been delivered, someone's coming next week to fit it, but I was browsing through the manual and noticed they said it only required a 1.5mm flex, which for 2 3kw heaters seemed a bit small to me. The tank comes...

    Megaflow with iBoost, supply cable?

Hi, With the Megaflow Eco Solar PV with iBoost and 2 x 3kw heaters, do the two heating elements work only one at a time? Manual states 1.5mm heat resistant flex input is required, but this nowhere near enough if both elements are running? The iBoost is already prewired to the cylinder with...

How many amps would this heat pump draw?

It says 100a on the fuse. I get that these are designed for domestic properties, but do all domestic properties require 2 outdoor and 8 indoor units, possibly not, so yes my concern is is this too much for the average property?

How many amps would this heat pump draw?

Yep, will be getting an engineer out to do all of this, but I don't want to waste anyone's time if this system isn't doable in terms of what it'll require from our electric supply.

How many amps would this heat pump draw?

Feasible as in would 2 outdoor units and 8 indoor units draw too many amps for our electric supply to cope with. Roughly, yes. We have an existing (older) Daikin unit running one of these wall units, it's a 2kw model in the dining room (one of the larger rooms in the property). Does a fairly...

How many amps would this heat pump draw?

Thanks for the replies. This was the bit I was struggling with Moss, I understood that as needing 4mm² cable run from a 32a breaker on consumer unit. So does that mean with 4 wall units connected the total draw won't be above 32a if all 4 are running same time?

How many amps would this heat pump draw?

Hi, Looking at going all electric for our heating. Live in a bungalow with good levels of insulation (400mm in loft, 60mm PIR in walls). 100a main fuse, single phase supply. Looking at the Daikin Stylish range of heat pumps and indoor units, it's a large bungalow and we'd need 2 outdoor units...

Is this 20mm mdpe, is Speedfit a good way to cap it

All done, thank you. Don't know if it was a good idea or not but I put a few wraps of PTFE around the thread. Waters back on and no sign of leaks. Next question is.. best way to cover it. That concrete floor is going to have electric UFH laid and then tiled. I was thinking wrap the pipe to...
