Why is this garage roof leaking?

I've a shed with the same sort of panels, generous moss growth was causing water to obviously backup in the valleys over the join which didn't look ideal to me so I tried to clear them out a bit, any backup when it's raining?

wiring 2 loads up in in parallel to drop voltage (ed: he means in series)

What are you trying to do? There's a wide variety of cheap and efficient DC-DC converter modules to supply a correct lower voltage to both loads, the faff and uncertainty doesn't seem worth connecting things in series unless you're pulling high levels of current.

    Terraced loft rat issues

Plot twist is that in the last couple of weeks they've started on extensive building work to convert from HMO to house/family let including new waste pipe and moving the combi to their loft. I went round to visit when the builder and a guy in a suit was there after they'd finished for the day...

    Plastic welding with glue gun

Wheelie bins are quite low temperature melting plastics so it should be possible to melt the crack using a chunky soldering iron but it would have to be a tidy/clean crack to do it. Gluing is likely to be a waste of time.

    Plastic welding with glue gun

ABS can be repaired but you use acetone to glue or to make a repair slurry/goop using waste ABS rather than using heat.

    Widow maker

Poor excuse though, you could re-do it safely (if untidily) using random stuff found round your typical office (1 4-way and 4 PC leads)

Plastic piping loft - is plumber right?

Had a plastic pipe installed to connect in what was an old tank feed, it's clipped to joists and I lagged it and I've had no issues with it except ... the first sign of the rodent issue that I've almost dealt with was the chewing on the lagging where the pipe goes down through the ceiling.

    Widow maker

I've just thought why you might do this, the fuse on the inlet to the light is before the passthrough connector, they're using this nasty bodge to backfeed through an outlet because the fuse has gone?

    Widow maker

Did the lights even have safety cable/chains on them? Kind of thing I'd probably spot before the cabling. Less likely to casually touch the pins on a C14 connector but they're still exposed!

    Worst DIY electrics

All of this is speaking as a non-electrician I watched this video before it came up on here, looks shonky (and there'll be loads like it out there) but what is to be done? Realistically barring any issues such as the one that triggered the callout this sort of install is going to stay like this...

    Directional Tyres

The norm for "skinny" spares rather than normal full width and it's normally labelled on the wheel hub, not ideal if you're on a long motorway journey.

    Toilet backing up

How limescaley is the waste pipe coming out of the bottom of the pan? My previous rental flat had a prestigious scale build-up that continued round the bend that was causing quite the obstruction, went bonkers with descaler for a bit and huge chunks of scale literally dropped off the pipe, was...

Need Help: Cutting Through Kitchen Cabinet For Access

Multi tool cutter might be another decent option? Are you looking to make the hole taller or taller and wider? Would have thought a hand sized access hole would be useful than a longer slot.

    Terrible damp…

They're both the gable ends, southern side just isn't as bad?

    Terraced loft rat issues

Hi, We've got an ongoing rat issue in the loft on our 50s mid-terrace property. With the help of a rat man and his bait trays the number of rats have been greatly reduced but the issue of how to block access from the HMO rental next-door is giving a slight issue. The soffits on next-door are in...

    HDMI Touchscreen over CAT6

Some of our posh AV installs at work have boxes that can do this but pro-av doesn't tend to be cheap, finding a different way to use a second cable is going to be less eye wateringly expensive for sure

Existing doorbell cabling for video doorbell

Ah sorry, I'd missed that you're using the chime, thought it was just the transformer.

Existing doorbell cabling for video doorbell

8v is low voltage so it'd be safe enough, at the bottom of the range so I'd be tempted to use 12v if it's easy/no-cost

Aldi's batteries for their power tools

It's reduced as it's "offer week" has passed long ago which is why the batteries have all gone, great if you've got a battery already and sucks if not but that's how it is. I haven't got a secret hotline to Aldi but what's that in a few weeks? ... Like we said, check the website, keep an eye...

They've (just) withdrawn their home delivery service.
