    Low Water Pressure

They are on 40amp ... we’ve not run them simultaneously so I think I need to get this assessed again before looking at the water pressure. The one shower has provision to easily change to a mixer / power shower but I need to get the cold water tank lifted higher to improve the pressure on that...

    Low Water Pressure

Thanks, Yes I know there are many factors.... The electrician who installed the cable didn't have any concerns about the additional load? They are 8.5KW and both on their own feed back to the main board run with 10mm twin & earth, if memory serves they are on 32amp (will check with the sparky)...

    Low Water Pressure

Hello all, We have two electric showers in the house but can't run them simultaneously because the water pressure drops and the unit flashes blue and they run cold (assume safety feature). Both are find when running independently but the same happens when we flush the toilet or turn other taps...

    Velux condensation dripping on head

Hi all, My loft conversion has just been occupied by guests for the first time. As the temperature dropped last night there was condensation on the inside of the velux which ran down and dripped from the bottom reveal onto the bed ( my father in laws head ). The Loft has celotex with a...

    Insulate with Rockwool ?

Yes I thought about that but read it can cause problems with bridging in older houses. I've stripped holes in the wall now With trickle vents installed I can't see that Rockwool would cause a problem with interstitial condensation ? I'm sure there's a science that can be applied but I'm a...

    Insulate with Rockwool ?

Hi again, This single brick external wall needs insulating. Is it possible without removing all of the plaster ? ... it's double skinned and hard as nails to smash up / peel off ( plus the local tip have started charging for PB disposal ). If I cut strips wide enough to slide Rockwall slab...

    WTF ? Can I insulate it ?

Thanks Pilsbury ..... my little one has asthma so mould / humidity control is very important to us too. I think I'll get the trickle vents in first and see how we go. I've been reading up on due point an humidity tonight so have a better understanding of it now.

    WTF ? Can I insulate it ?

I gave it a suck and see approach and left the insulation but I've started decorating this room and there's a massive problem with condensation in the one corner. I'm now thinking of ripping off the old plasterboard and insulating the cavity with kingspan or wool and then dropping a vapour...

    WTF ? Can I insulate it ?

Thanks both .... we have extractors in the bathroom but not the kitchen ( until we renovate it next year ) This corner is miles away from the kitchen though ? Like on the opposite end of the house. My thoughts were that some insulation would be better than none ? I'll look into the beads but...

    WTF ? Can I insulate it ?

In my Victorian house the ground floor external wall is double skin downstairs, but for reasons unknown the same wall upstairs has had the inner skin removed and replaced with stud work ? There's also an rsj holding up the first floor joists. I've knocked an inspection hole, there's about a...

    Chimney breast - creative solution

Now now ...... sorry Vinn I thought gallows bracket was a similar to a heavy duty angled bracket, I was asking for affirmation really. And what's the point in asking a question about purlins if this is your last reply ? Anyway according the SE the sistered and bolted beams and stud work (...

    Chimney breast - creative solution

It's actually a double ( bolted together ) with the sister is sitting on the returning side / corner of the chimney breast. BCO and the SE have passed it but you've got me worried now, taking out this breast might case more problems than it cures ? Ref the chimney ... it has been removed to...

    Chimney breast - creative solution

Thanks fella, was talking about the salts from the flu / soot but having now inspected the situation further it would appear that the half I want to remove is full to ceiling level of bricks and rubble, so it would be complete ( even more so ) nightmare now to remove. The side down to ground...

    Crack repair/Advice

Ok well there's only one way to be sure... I'd knock an area the size of a dinner plate and go right back to the substrate and make sure there's no further cracks in the wall ... Be warned though, if it's blown plaster ( probably is ) then it may just drop off in large sections. In my...
