Pound in biggest monthly fall against the dollar since 2016...

If buyer's costs aren't in £s then why would their costs be less? As you know, when more £s are required to buy a $, things priced in $ obviously cost more £s... So, when prices increase, what generally happens?

I agree, inflation can be imported. What do you think happens to the exporters?

Well, if it's 'on the news' there's absolutely no doubt about it.

. 'since 1945, the US has tried to overthrow more than 50 governments, many of them democratically elected; grossly interfered in elections in 30 countries; bombed the civilian populations of 30 countries; used chemical and biological weapons; and attempted to assassinate foreign leaders.' From...

Treasury issues/buys gilts via DMO in response to deficit/surplus on any particular day. All this means is that instead of sitting as a static, non-interest bearing, non tradable figure in the Ways and Means Account, govt 'debt' is represented by interest-bearing, tradable gilts. Both the Ways...

I would say so. I posted about BRICS expansion, Ru/Ch Swift alternative etc. previously. The world is definitely changing. US empire is creaking.

The rate on govt 'borrowing' aka the completely unnecessary issuance of Gilts etc has increased because the BoE believes it's a good idea to raise interest rates. Therefore to meet the DMO nonsensical target of 'full funding ' they think they have to offer base+ to drain any excess reserves govt...

I gave you a link to his statement, you probably won't bother to read it, too busy finding 'reliable' sources. The guy who said that is Defense Secretary, Lloyd Austin. Do you think he's just wandered into a press conference and blurted out some personal opinion, I mean who would do that? Oh...

'Then, he said, the United States hopes Russia will be “weakened” by the war. “It has already lost a lot of military capability and a lot of its troops, quite frankly, and we want to see them not have the capability to very quickly reproduce that capability,” Austin said.' Full article here...

Our legacy media also doesn't point out that's exactly what our politicians do at all times. That's not the job of legacy media.

That is a Western-centric view based on the US hegemony. It seems like the world is changing and the US Empire is teetering. Developments like I outlined above and, significantly, the expansion of BRICS with Iran and Argentina applying to join plus Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt 'preparing to...

Expressing levels of displeasure is just more performance art, isn't it, it's to look as though something is being done when in reality it isn't. As far as India (and pretty much any other country not in the grip of the IMF) and it's exports of technology services etc. are concerned, the reason...

I think imposing sanctions on China, for whatever reason, would be the height of stupidity. The evidence for sanctions 'working' in any way is mixed at best. They are a form of performance art. Should the USA impose sanctions on China then unless they have stockpiles of the rare earth metals...

I'm merely stating facts. Can you explain why you try to label me as a Russian sympathiser - I take it that was the thrust of your comment - simply because I'm not slavishly quoting the official narrative?

All that means is Russia isn't continuing to accumulate Euros. It can't use those Euros anyway as the EU have imposed sanctions. Russia, like every other monetary sovereign country, doesn't need an income stream.

Strawman. We'll see what happens with LNG berthing and, more importantly, sourcing. Renewables and particularly nuclear take time so the issue is what to do in the meantime. Russia doesn't have to do anything but keep the taps turned off until it decides not to.
