    driveway block paving questions

The reason he wont put the water into the drain is its most likely a foul drain. Soakaway drain will be fine and avoid potential problems later, its not a good idea to put large amounts of rain water into the sewers..its probably illegal in your area too without council consent. Nice block the...

    driveway block paving questions

If what it stands on is solid then it should be fine for light use. Cars vans ect. Talk to the contractor about the various types of paving. I loved Woburn Rumbled paving which is a 3 size cobble style pressed concrete block. Joint sealer works fine, upto you if you coat the whole lot. I...

    driveway block paving questions

Your talking about " lean mix concrete" this is about a 10:1 mix of sand gravel and cement. Its laid damp and rolled or wakker plated. It sets very hard but not as hard as wet mix concrete. You would normally put ducting in for cables ect when laying a base under paving. Saves a lot of future...

    driveway block paving questions

Hi, most reputable Driveway installers would use a type 1 MOT stone base and this would be around 200 mm in depth for a domestic driveway. A concrete base is a none porous base and may cause a few problems ? I say may do. If your ground is very bad then this " raft approach " may be the answer...

Patio covering air bricks (& drainage issues)

Bit naughty Paving looks ok but you must remove at least 150mm away from the wall. Your just bridging the damp with it upto the wall with render on on it. Disc cut the 150 mm and reduce the bed, then add a bit of shingle . Make sure water can drain away, ie if its laid on old concrete ? You...

    Patio - advice on level

Your going to struggle with that. Might be far easier and better for the building to use decking . Whatever you do your getting very close to DPC. If you go for a deck at least you wont cause a damp issue. A composite decking would be my choice to save work and wood rot. All i can suggest.

    New fence with blue stains?

Tanalising however you spell it. As said it leaches out and quite normal. The posts are wet at the base so i'd bet they were set in postcrete. You can see cement powder on the bottoms too. And £650 seems an excellent price for what looks a bloody good fence and tidy job

    Drive base

If the mot is solid and no sinking from car weight you should be fine. Is it quite thick? You are cutting corners but you will save a fortune. I'd use some good quality membrane and overlapping on the concrete as this will help. Typar pro or similar A pic would be helpful , use 50mm pavers so...

Removing soil from next to wall

Best bet is dig a trial hole. It should be ok depth wise. As its a 9" wall you may expose con block or cheap rough brickwork . Hopefully all's ok . If you dont mind a bit of hard work use a shovel. Or hire a mini digger with a skip next to the area so you can load with the bucket. If you do go...

    Clay pavers on drive mismatch!

Good luck. I think you'll be wasting your time. Shame but i doubt the colour is even made anymore. The contractor maybe a bit inexperienced about things like this, lots are.

    Clay pavers on drive mismatch!

You cant get 65mm anymore only 50-60-80 mm To be honest you haven't a hope in hell of getting a good match. Normally you'd mix them all up and re-lay but with varying thickness thats a real pita. They do the job for parking so not all bad.
