    Selling house/property advice consultant?

I have checked the term out but I came away not really understanding where to find authorised companies that offer it? Specifically in my area, Greater London? As I understand it, it's a European standard for a variety of things but it also seems to be a catch all term for valuations. So for...

    Selling house/property advice consultant?

Thanks a lot for the replies everyone. I'm surprised there's no specialised advice out there, but that just goes to show my lack of knowledge in this area I suppose. I forgot to mention that the house itself is extremely unlikely to be brought by anyone wishing to live in it. It's old and fairly...

    Selling house/property advice consultant?

This might be a bit of a left field question for the forum but I thought I'd ask here as it's a good source of knowledgable people! :) My mum needs to start looking into selling her house. It's obviously a big decision and one we need to get right. I don't live in the UK currently but I'll be...

    2013 Ford Focus Dynamo Question

@Burnerman Thanks a lot for the reply. Apparently the garage thinks the starter is obviously gone since the dynamo is running at a higher voltage. Does that seem to chime right with you? The alternator in this case is the dynamo right?

    2013 Ford Focus Dynamo Question

Our Focus wouldn't start before Xmas with the breakdown service suggesting it might be the starter. The garage has just rung and said that the dynamo seems to be running at a high voltage so they suspect that possibly in conjunction with the starter? They then also mentioned the battery might...

    Hedge Trimmer/Cutter Recommendation

@mcprinter Thanks again. That makes sense regarding the cutter motor being at the top. Less areas of failure are always good. I think I'll go with the Hyundai then. Many thanks again!

    Hedge Trimmer/Cutter Recommendation

@mcprinter Thanks a lot for those. Would this one from screwfix be suitable too? I'm just thinking in advance about needing to do the top too. I presume it would still be able to handle the side with the telescopic arm pulled in...

    Hedge Trimmer/Cutter Recommendation

My parents Laurel hedge has got a bit out of control so it's falling to me to cut it down to size. It's become quite tall and bushy with branches around 5mm thick. The height isn't so important as the bushy'ness for now tho. There seems so many hedge cutters on the market that I'm not sure what...

What glue to apply thin oak veneer to table edges?

Thanks again for the advice @JobAndKnock I wonder if using Titebond 3 glue like this would be a good method? Kind of half way between a glue sheet but using liquid glue still.

What glue to apply thin oak veneer to table edges?

Thanks a lot for the reply @JobAndKnock Would this listing for film glue be appropriate? It doesn't specifically state PUR so I'm wondering if it's just normal hot melt style glue! Does it have the proper structural strength...

What glue to apply thin oak veneer to table edges?

I've sanded and squared off an old table top which is made up of about 6mm oak parquet bonded to a pine base. So it's a kind of plywood affair. To edge the table I'd like to have it appear to be one solid piece of wood so I've got a roll of thin (non pre glued) oak veneer with which to bond to...

Shelf brackets over instead of under the shelf - Safe?

Thanks so much for all the replies everyone. Using nuts and bolts is a good idea and the cliffhanger slot bracket looks good but isn't available in the UK. Plus it's expensive! @conny Why I didn't think of going the batten route though, I have no idea! That's absolutely the best way to go I...

Shelf brackets over instead of under the shelf - Safe?

@JobAndKnock Thanks a lot for the reply. That's very much what I was thinking. I'm not seeing any top hung solutions tho that wouldn't involve some sort of protrusion below the shelf? I really want a clean underneath. Say I chose a thicker ply or made it thicker using a construction with thick...

Shelf brackets over instead of under the shelf - Safe?

I want to attach a high up shelf along a corridor, approx 2m across, into a brick wall. I'll likely use some 3/4" ply and 3 or 4 wall brackets. Ideally I'd like to have the brackets mounted internally so that they will be hidden when looking up. I'm always a little worried about mounting shelves...

Should I move a 'taken' rose cutting inside for a bit?

Thanks for the reply @John D v2.0 Yes that's what I was thinking too. Maybe I should let them be where they are. I've started watering them with rose feed so hopefully that will give them an extra boost.

Decent carbon filters for solder fume extractor?

Thanks again for the replies everyone. I'd seen that DIY Perks one previously. He does some great stuff doesn't he. It's a little too much effort though currently when I have so many other electronic things to fix! :) I went with some filters from pihut which ended up being ones from adafruit...

Should I move a 'taken' rose cutting inside for a bit?

It's not really a DIY question.. but I spy a few other plant related questions so thought a few knowledgable gardeners here might be able to answer? Looking around the net it's pretty unclear how to actually proceed with rose cuttings which have taken. I took some rose cuttings late last year...

Decent carbon filters for solder fume extractor?

Thanks for the replies everyone. @RandomGrinch Yeah this kind of thing certainly isn't for a professional workplace. But for light hobby work it should be sufficient. I might go down the route of the tube out the window but like I said, having the window open is damn cold! And energy costs what...

Decent carbon filters for solder fume extractor?

Found some! The Pi Hut had some. There are also some from RS Online, don't know why I didn't check there in the first place!

Decent carbon filters for solder fume extractor?

@Sureitsoff? Thanks for the reply. Are Hepa filters required for this type of filtration? I've read around and I kept hearing about simple carbon filter sheets which should provide the filter quality for solder fumes? I could absolutely just open the windows its just damn cold! Plus fumes never...
