I did what you said and now, the side that wasn’t working is permanently on. I can’t switch that off. The other side works normally. JH

yep, thats what I did. I put one blue in the terminal and one blue in a connector block. Yet, only one set of lights work. Any ideas? JH

Ok I have put it in the right setting and I see that the two wires which I have stuck a small red tape on are the ones with the voltage while the other two are dead. the problem remains as to how do I wire up the new switch with only one L terminal?

I have a new Lightwave smart switch and they all use a single L terminal, even for 3 gang.

One is first attempt and the other works but only one gang.

Now, I blocked one of the live blue wires and I plugged the other into the live terminal. Then I put each of the brown wires into their X terminals. That just put one set of lights on permanently and didn’t allow me to switch anything off. so then, I swapped the brown wires around and now...

Ok I wired my old switch back up the right way and it’s all working. this is how I have wired it: Browns in X. Blues in Live. so it’s all working. Now, the new switch has only one L terminal. What do I do?

But on the new switch, there is only one L terminal and 2 X terminals. So does it matter which wire of the 2 browns goes in the two X terminals? Both are on the same circuit. JH

The old and the new are both 2 gang switches so i wanna keep it that way, both separate. Ill rewire it in the morning. JH

Thats all I did. The old switch had the blue in the Live and the brown in the X terminals. But the documentation on the new light switch said to do it the other way around, and so I followed that initially. I don't know if wiring it this way around shorted something to cause the new switch to...

It was working, but afterwards, I plugged it back in and now it doesn't work.

Ok, I got the multimeter. I'll start the testing during daylight tomorrow. I have changed wiring at other switch positions downstairs, but the old switch was still working before I took it off. To start, what setting do I use and what do I connect where, for testing? JH

no doubt its something I did while wiring things around the wrong way, but no breakers have tripped. My screwdriver is not detecting any voltage from one or two of the wires. I don't know if that's part of the problem or if that's how it should be. JH

yes I have been trying to wire them in to the new switch. I'm using the same GU10 lamps downstairs with the new switches successfully so it seems to be compatible.

I am installing Lightwave all over the house. Sometimes i have to wire things differently because of the different terminals on the new switches. But I think the current issue is because my screwdriver doesn't detect any voltage from one of the wires. Is that normal? JH
