    I am paying Virgin, and my phone is connected into the socket that I have show above. I don't know who that belongs to. Virgin did a test on the line and says it's all green from their end. They will send a technician tomorrow. JH

    I didn't connect the phone line into the socket when testing. I used all the dial points on my voltmeter including AC/DC and Ohms. No current at all. I touched the metal points on 2 and 5. Last time it was working (when plasterers were here, was 5 months ago roughly). JH

    Yeah, I did plug the phone line in, and I did punch out a new hole from the tabs now. The 2 wires are connected but still no dial tone. JH

    I have connected the orange and white wires now to terminals 2 & 5 and I have ensured that the contact is made with the wire inside the sleeve. Yet, my phone still says "Check Phone Line". It's not connecting. Any ideas? JH

    Its the main line coming in. From other videos, I think these colours are an alternative to the standard. They twist up further in the sleeve. I think the black and green twist together and the red/white twist together.
