Efflorescence on internal wall, how to get rid of it?

I'm not sure exactly what's happening on their side. I'd have to ask. I know directly on the other side is just a hallway, but I don't know what's above. I'll have to look tomorrow but I don't think that's peeling paint behind the meter. I think the last people were lazy and didn't paint...

Garden wall tied into house wall, removal?

Ok yeah good idea. That side is south facing so it gets sun all day. So I can leave it for a few weeks even, to try and let it dry out Then I guess I can just render it

Efflorescence on internal wall, how to get rid of it?

Thanks , good advice Yeah maybe I need to hack it back in that area and see whats going on You're right it's a bedroom above. I haven't noticed any issues around the door. What gutters could affect it? It's on the ground floor I'll have a better look tomorrow

    Linked mains fire alarms advice?

You wouldn't have Co2 alarms? Yeah I read that article. I also read that in Scotland and Ireland they require LD2 as a minimum, and when regs are updated England will probably follow suit, which is why I considered going that far

    Linked mains fire alarms advice?

Yeah I can't get down from the loft unless I lift the carpet, but I probably can get down from above to the downstairs hallway. I didnt know about cable rods, so you just make a hole where you want the alarm, then wire up to the lighting pendant and use the cable to rod to get it to the alarm...

    Linked mains fire alarms advice?

Thanks, is there a way to do this without having to cut out a big section and re plasterboard it? Something clever I'm not thinking off possibly!

Efflorescence on internal wall, how to get rid of it?

Yeah I did ask them and they said they didnt notice anything. The two houses next to mine were clearly built much later, as they are totally different looking houses, so mine could well have been the end of terrace at some point in the past. maybe this has something to do with it

Efflorescence on internal wall, how to get rid of it?

Yeah it was like that when I bought it and I never got round to sorting it! Are you saying plasterboard over it? Not just skim over it

    Linked mains fire alarms advice?

Hi I'm renovating my house and only have battery powered unlinked fire alarms. The loft room has mains power. I would like to get radio linked alarms, so they don't have to be wired to each other. But I need them to be mains powered If I was to run them off the lighting circuit, what is the...

Garden wall tied into house wall, removal?

Hi After getting rid of a huge bush INTL noticed the garden wall is tied into the house wall, and I always had damp in my kitchen in that corner. So I'm guessing that must be why. I've grinded it, and need to chip off the rest to get it relatively flush. I'm getting external wall insulation...

Efflorescence on internal wall, how to get rid of it?

Thanks, how can you tell its damp from the photos. Also, any idea what possible causes of damp could be in a wall between two terraced houses? And as far as I can tell it hasn't spread over the years

Efflorescence on internal wall, how to get rid of it?

Hi, I bought my Victorian terraced house 5 years ago and the wall that joins my neighbours has a big part of what I'm guessing is efflorescence, just inside the front door in the hallway. As far as I can tell it hasn't got much worse over the years or better. But when I paint over it or sand...

    Diagnosing possible toilet leak?

Yeah I don't know why forums have a tendency to turn into conflict so easily. It wouldn't happen having this conversation in real life! Ok thanks, learnt something new!

    Diagnosing possible toilet leak?

Yeah I was quite careful to make sure this didnt happen when I put it on. I used a bit of soapy water to get it one to prevent this. But maybe I do need to take it off and inspect...I just dont want to have to get it back on again :)

    Diagnosing possible toilet leak?

Hi everyone, appreciate the help, no need to argue! So to be clear, the spigot is the bit that sticks out of the pan at the back? It was a very tight fit to get the pan connector on the toilet, it was not easy! So I doubt the spigot could be too small

    Diagnosing possible toilet leak?

I'm guessing a crack is quite an unlikely event. It was well packaged as far as I could tell. I certainly havent knocked it at all. I really hope its not the pan, as that would be very frustrating at this point!!

    Diagnosing possible toilet leak?

Good to know! This is my first experience with plumbing and I've done my whole bathroom, and was happy that nothing leaked until this last piece! I guess I had to have one leak to teach me a lesson

    Diagnosing possible toilet leak?

Ok maybe this is the next step to working it out. I guess this won't stain a toilet bowl!

    Diagnosing possible toilet leak?

That's not a bad idea, would it possibly stain the pan? I'd have to leave it for quite a while probably

    Diagnosing possible toilet leak?

No, that's what's weird. It's a small amount of water so I wondered if it could just be left from something, but there never was water on the floor or elsewhere
