Go outside... there will be a small copper pipe sticking out of the wall from behind the boiler - it usually points back towards the wall... sort of like an inverted U shape
Any water coming out of there?
usually a blockage somewhere down the line... lift the manhole cover and take a look to see if it’s draining.
Dont ask me to explain - but i guess it gas something to do with a vacuum and not equalising pressure upon flush.
Gas pipe must have at least 25mm screed cover.
It must be protected either with:
A) factory sheathed pipe
B) pvc wrapping or bituminous painting (wrap with 50% overlap)
C) or can be tracpipe
D) copper in a pre formed duct
No compression joints or unions may be buried
Must be tightness tested...
How big is the room... just roughly.
Length x width x height...
Give us that and it’ll get you going in the right direction...
And what’s your budget... are we looking for a posh one or just a standard radiator..?
Looks like a bung you sometimes get on a new radiator... supposed to take them out - perhaps someone pushed it in, instead... can’t say i’ve seen them inside a rad before.
You could always try to run the pipe in an easily accessible place - aso that if the worst was to happen you dont have to rip out kitchen units etc.
Are you tiling over it..? Laminate..?.
Also, these are all water pipes, yes..? No gas..?
You could always feed them throught a bigger pipe if you werent convinced. Denso tape.
Old fella i worked with would use carpet tape (!)
Personally... rightly or wrongly ... i’d feed them through some flexi pipe if it was a short run and i had some to hand. Failing that - denso tape.
Went to a landlord cert last week and they hadnt had anything done, from what i could make out... for 6 years, since the last tenant moved in! How do they sleep at night??
Before i was GSR i would lose sleep if the safety cert was a week late
Tight as a ducks arse some landlords...
Yup - i agree... call out engineer.
Had a couple of jobs where a gas valve was leaking slowly (both ferroli’s, unsurprisingly) ... so if the boiler had been off for a while gas would be filling the chamber - then the boiler would kick in and you’d get a loud bang.
As the fan kicked in I assume...
And does it do this noise everytime it kicks in - even if it were a few seconds between each ignition..? Or is it fine if there’s only a few minutes between each ignition..? (I.e. if you left it for an hour or so it’d make the bang...)
Hope that makes sense...
