Screwfix I checked do not have the 18-18-18 listed but they do list 20-20-20 but not kept by my 4 nearest stores, might just go with pipework mods. Loft is out, assess and work space limited and support of that weight a problem need strengthening etc. A couple of hours work turned into days.

No I said its not the central heating the central heating has its own header tank. Sorry but I know you trying to be helpful but all I want to obtain is a plastic tank to replace an excising galvanised one of a very similar size.

Thanks Dilado I not see any point in changing the way this water is supplied as eventually it will become redundant when the time comes to replace the traditional design of central heating comes.

Agile. It's not the header tank for the central heating it's the tank for the hot water from the taps it can't be undersized as it as been in use for over 50 years, this is the way they used to do the plumbing, way before combi boiler systems and taking cold water supply from the same tank...
