did you remove dash to fit new bulb ? The bulbs are fed by a thin printed circuit board/ribbon and this may be damaged . May need, if fuses are ok to access dash circuit board and check for a live feed and earth path on the circuit board where the bulb twists into

still have a 4 pin starter relay in most vehicles . This is used to control the solenoid on the starter. So like when you put your foot on brake or clutch switch that then puts a earth path to the relay so it can energise to send power to solenoid when the key is in crank position other items...

To much oil in gearbox ? as you say you can not check level, my be to high, drain and refill to correct level and see how that goes ,save pulling the gearbox out Also check gearbox breather not blocked or damaged after box was removed ,top of gearbox under air filter area

Car requires a geometry test . You could crudely check by measuring distance between centers of wheels (back to front) both sides and see if they are the same also measuring diagonal front to rear.

I seen a couple of drive shafts snap, when I worked for rover years ago ,both on the rover 216s which is the Honda engine and drive train.
