    Rubber grommets vs comp glands

I’m sourcing a junction box for an outdoor project - replacing a pair of non-working floodlights. It’s not possible to push cable for the replacement light through the wall so I need an outdoor junction box. I found one like this...

    The joke thread.

I went to a job interview once. The interviewer asked if I could perform under pressure. I said I didn’t know all the words but I knew all the words to Bohemian Rhapsody so could I perform that instead?

    Extension Leads in the Kitchen

Personally I question the need for a surge protector for a kettle toaster and microwave. It’s not as if any of those things have particularly sensitive electronics inside them - they’re not computers after all. I suspect the tenants have heard “Surge Protection” as one of the big “buzzword”...

What have you had for dinner

Let them think it! Personally I like to dust homemade soup with a wee bit of black pepper.

What have you had for dinner

I make substitutions all the time in cooking. The other day I made a chicken dish that called for coriander but since Mrs IfInDoubtDIY cannot stand the taste of coriander I used parsley instead and it was delicious.

What are you watching on TV right now?

I like to have the TV on while I’m cooking (well, it’s not so much a TV as a tablet with streaming apps installed) and I’ve been watching a lot of classic British comedy like Only Fools and Horses (which I’m just about old enough to remember being on TV) and Dad’s Army (which I’m too young to...

What have you had for dinner

Well, like I said I went through an “I don’t like mashed potatoes” phase myself as a wee lad. Thankfully I grew out of it quickly and now I do like a nice dollop of creamy mashed potatoes!

No black pepper as Mrs cannot eat it. Doesn’t stop me seasoning the food on my own plate though.

What have you had for dinner

Have to be honest I’m not much of a fan of green beans, I mainly cooked those for Mrs IfInDoubtDIY. I do like mashed potatoes though (despite going through a brief period as a lad where I didn’t like them), I normally do them with a big wedge of butter and a cup of milk, but this evening I had...

What have you had for dinner

We had salmon with mashed potatoes and green beans. To cook the salmon I garnished it with butter (or Olive Oil from Mrs IfInDoubtDIY), topped with Dill and a squeeze of lemon juice then wrapped it in foil and baked in the oven for 20min. Delicious!

I wonder what the Scottish government make of the whole thing….
