Update for everyone who may be interested: Regarding the floodlight above the garage I will be drilling through the wall and wiring to an internally mounted junction box, so no need for wiring outside.

Update for all who may be interested: I have purchased a 20w PIR Floodlight for above the garage, and I will replace the two above the kitchen door with a single 30W Floodlight. Definitely don’t need to be any brighter.

Ok, you’ve convinced me. I’ll get a 10 or 12mm bit and just feed the cable directly through.

Ok, that’s good to know. Might make things a bit easier. I’m remembering when I got broadband installed, they just fed the fibre optic cable directly through the wall when they did the installation, without lining the channel with anything.

Thanks. I chose 16mm as I want to line it with 15mm pipe. Perhaps I don’t need to then?

Thanks @ebee and @trojanhawrs. Hopefully sealing the end won’t make it too difficult to remove the light if needed. The light fitting I have in mind has a 75cm cable attached - and my garage wall is only about 22cm thick so I should have plenty to work with!

Sorry I think there’s a misunderstanding here - I AM planning to use a male adapter into a Wiska box. The gland is for the OTHER end of the conduit where the T+E comes out of the garage from under the soffit. I will feed it into the conduit but don’t want to just leave the end of the conduit open.

I know it’s the wrong cable to use but it wasn’t my choice. The light I am replacing was here when we moved in and it has always looked a bit of a bodge job. Whoever installed it either didn’t know that T+E should not be used outside, knew but didn’t care, or knew and cared but was ordered to...

Thanks. Doesn’t say if those are for 1.5mm T+E but I’m sure a google search will get me the cable diameter. Hopefully that sort of insert is universal!

Hi folks, Can anyone recommend a suitable gland for T+E cable? Want to feed a length of it into a conduit but add in a bit of protection from moisture. I’ve heard you can gland the open end of conduit by using a female adapter, but I’ve also heard that standard glands don’t close tightly around...
