    It is not a deficiency; it is a design attribute making it difficult (so people don't try) to unplug an appliance by yanking the flex, and facilitates a proper cord grip. We used to have rear-entry plugs (2 pin 5 amp); and shaver plugs are usually still rear-entry.

    I thought all permanent wiring required a cpc (with the exception of a drop to a double-insulated pendant). You could use 5-core + 2-core, double the earths, and heatshrink them together., if you only need very short lengths

    They must have an awful lot of part-used coils if they only cut from 100m. But it is very useful being able to get cut lengths to the metre, especially of expensive stuff like meter tails, rather than buy either 1m or 5m packs, which are either too short or too long.

    Usually the flag and push are wired in series individually, then the bell is wired in series with [all the flags]. You've probably got your bell in parallel with the flags.
